Found a new pothole on a street in Boston? There’s an app for that!
No, really, there is. It’s called Citizens Connect, and it allows Boston-based iPhone owners to do their civic duty and report problems in their city. From potholes to graffiti, the iPhone user needs only to snap a photo of the offending problem and the location’s coordinates automatically embed in the picture.
The complaint then goes sprinting past City Hall and its layers of bureaucracy directly to the public works crews handling problems around the city. Following a complaint, a red dot marks the offense on a special iPhone map; if and when the fix is made, the red dot will turn green. Civic duty, consider yourself complete.
We at Cars.com strongly advocate that a Chicago version of this app see rapid deployment.
