Jeep Adding 4 EVs to Lineup by 2025, Starting With Recon and Wagoneer S

Jeep gave us a glimpse into its electrification plans, announcing its intention to have four all-electric vehicles in North America and Europe and to offer an electrified 4xe version of every model in its Jeep and Wagoneer lineups by 2025. The first Jeep EVs to arrive in showrooms will be the Wrangler-adjacent Recon off-roader and a street-oriented, coupefied electric SUV that Jeep is currently calling the Wagoneer S. The brand says both SUVs will be manufactured in North America, likely in response to the recent changes to the federal EV tax credit regulations.

The newest electrified 4xe model, meanwhile, will be the Grand Wagoneer, which Jeep says will go on sale in 2024. Jeep also provided more details on a small electric SUV it teased earlier this year, naming it the Avenger, but as of now has provided no indication that it will be one of the EVs coming to the U.S. by 2025.
Here’s what we know so far:
Recon

The all-electric Recon, according to Jeep, will be an exclusively all-electric model meant for off-roading. Jeep says it will be Trail Rated and have Selec-Terrain, electronic locking axles, underbody protection and off-road tires. True to its heritage, the brand says the boxy Recon’s doors and glass are removable, and it will have a power-retractable top for open-air driving. Jeep also says the Recon’s Uconnect infotainment system will include detailed trail maps to aid in exploring off-road.
According to Jeep, reservations for the Recon will open in early 2023, with production scheduled to begin in 2024 in North America. It will make its public debut sometime in 2023, Jeep says.
Wagoneer S

The road-going electric SUV joining Jeep’s portfolio is currently “code-named” Wagoneer S, indicating that the name will likely change by the time it reaches production. Like the Recon, Jeep says it will debut next year and be built in North America beginning in 2024, with reservations opening in 2023.
The Wagoneer S has a very interesting design, with a sloping, coupefied roofline hidden behind a roof-mounted wing. The grille has an upscale, EV-specific style with Jeep’s signature seven-element design and a unique forward-swept nose. The automaker says the Wagoneer S will have standard four-wheel drive, and it’s targeting an estimated range of 400 miles, 600 horsepower and a 0-60 mph time as low as 3.5 seconds.
Grand Wagoneer 4xe
As part of its plan to offer a 4xe variant of all its models by the end of 2025, Jeep showed a glimpse of the upcoming Grand Wagoneer 4xe, which it says should be available in 2024. Shown with white exterior paint and the 4xe signature blue tow hooks, Jeep says the Grand Wagoneer 4xe should have over 500 miles of combined range.
Avenger

While not indicating that it would come to America, Jeep also shared more about the Avenger EV, a small SUV that looks like an electrified, modernized Renegade. Jeep says the Avenger should have about 250 miles of range. Much closer to production-ready, the Avenger will officially debut at the Paris Motor Show on Oct. 17, and reservations will open that day. It will go on sale in early 2023.
