The Kia Carnival made a splash when it debuted for the 2022 model year, offering buyers an impressive amount of technology and cargo room. Kia is keeping the Carnival’s formula largely intact for 2023 but makes technology and seating revisions, as well as bumping up the starting prices for each trim level $300.
The 2023 Carnival carries over mostly unchanged, and the bulk of its updates focus on the higher SX and SX Prestige (now without hyphen) trims. SX-grade Carnivals now get the 12.3-inch gauge cluster, 12.3-inch center infotainment screen and blind spot view monitor that were previously available on the SX Prestige only. Meanwhile, the SX Prestige gets standard eight-passenger seating thanks to Kia’s Slide-Flex Seating system, which features a multifunction second-row seat. Buyers looking for more comfort can swap out Slide-Flex Seating for optional heated and ventilated captain’s chairs at no additional cost.
The front-wheel-drive 2023 Carnival is still offered with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that makes 290 horsepower and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Its powertrain also continues with an EPA-rated 19/26/22 mpg city/highway/combined.
