Many customer service websites offer live web assistance via a chat window. People with a bum computer, utility-billing problem or similar burning questions can just log on and start chatting with a service rep in real time on their computer. Now, Mazda is taking the same approach to car shopping with a “personal shopper.”
Starting today, the car company is offering a live chat via its website to help car shoppers learn more about the vehicles they’re researching by asking questions and getting actual quotes from local dealers. Mazda says every part of the car-buying process can be done through this setup, including financing and delivery scheduling.
Obviously, car shoppers must have already decided that a Mazda is the car they want for this to be a truly useful tool. Undecided shoppers might feel pressured when dealing with a live person, even on the web. Though we doubt shoppers will be more apprehensive using a chat window than they are with live salespeople at the dealership.
