Lincoln’s all-new 2020 Aviator three-row luxury SUV has gotten its mileage ratings from the EPA, and the results show that it not only offers substantially more power than the other new kid on the block from Detroit going on sale this summer — Cadillac’s 2020 XT6 — it also delivers slightly better gas mileage in the front-wheel-drive version.

Gasoline-only versions of the Aviator are EPA-rated at 18/26/21 mpg city/highway/combined with front-wheel drive and 17/24/20 with all-wheel drive. The Aviator is powered by a 400-horsepower, twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 good for 400 pounds-feet of torque and mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. A plug-in hybrid powertrain coming for high-end versions of the Aviator does not yet have a reported rating.

By contrast, the 2020 Cadillac XT6 is powered by a 310-hp, 3.6-liter V-6 with a nine-speed automatic, and its EPA combined rating is 20 mpg for both front- and all-wheel drive models. You can compare the two SUVs here. Both, however, are well below combined mpg ratings for such three-row SUV rivals as the 2019 Acura MDX (23 mpg FWD, 22 mpg AWD) and 2019 Volvo XC90 (24 and 23 mpg, respectively). More From Cars.com:

The Aviator, a key part of Lincoln’s brand revival, has already impressed us with its Navigator-like design, and high-quality and high-style interior — the “production ready” concept at the 2018 New York International Auto Show was our winner at that time for Best in Show. We also now know that it has been aggressively priced. Check out the links above for more information from Cars.com’s full coverage of the new Lincoln SUV.
