Today, we got a better look at the next-generation Kia Rio, which will be unveiled at the 2011 Geneva International Motor Show.
Production photos of the European version show a vehicle that’s reminiscent in look to the Volkswagen Golf. The Rio features Kia’s new signature grille, large bug-eyed headlamps and more detailed side sculpting compared to the rather slab-sided Rio of today.
According to Kia, the new Rio has grown in both width and length over the current model, though the height is slightly diminished. We don’t know much about U.S. powertrain options, but the European model will feature a new turbo 1.2-liter engine, which is a likely candidate for the U.S., and a diesel engine.
There will be hatchback and sedan variants available when the vehicle goes on sale in 2012. The Kia subcompact officially debuts at the Geneva International Motor Show on March 1.
