SunPods, a solar power company, is testing its first pre-engineered solar-panel electric vehicle charging station in San Jose, Calif. The SP-300 EV Plug-N-Go portable charging station provides solar energy directly to your car’s socket (currently a slim market but soon to grow).
The array comes pre-assembled. As soon as it’s delivered and an electrician makes the connections, it can start generating clean electricity for an EV. The Plug-N-Go can function in two ways, the simplest is to connect it to the existing electrical grid to provide a portion of the juice along with whatever sources your power company is drawing on.
When equipped with a battery for storage, the device can store and buffer power from the solar panels, power grid and your vehicle.
While the Plug-N-Go has a clear application for any city or town looking for quick, clean charging solutions perhaps its best asset is its portablity. SunPod’s array could be quickly set up for concerts, rallies or other events where a lot of charging capacity is only needed for a short while.
