German sports-car maker Porsche has announced its latest response to the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic, saying that it will automatically extend by three months any new-vehicle warranties that were set to expire in March, April or May 2020. For instance, the example Porsche provided is that a warranty set to expire on May 15, 2020, would automatically move to Aug. 15. The move also extends the start and end dates of Porsche’s extended-warranty program, Porsche Approved Certified warranties, if the extended program was to start upon the completion of the standard warranty.

“We wish to help our customers as we work our way through this unparalleled situation together,” said Klaus Zellmer, president and CEO of Porsche Cars North America Inc., in a statement. “The purpose of a warranty is peace of mind, which is something we are happy to provide at a time when it is needed most.”

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, automakers as wide-ranging as Kia and Aston Martin have extended expiring warranties as well, but Porsche’s three-month provision is particularly generous. It comes in addition to the Porsche at Your Service program that the company started as a response to the pandemic, which revolves around home and online options for sales and service. The company already had pick-up and drop-off maintenance and repair service, but it’s since expanded usage for customers concerned about going to a dealership for sales or  service. Porsche said it’s expanded PAYS to “an increasing number of Porsche dealers” amid customer concerns about visiting dealers.

Porsche also announced its financing arm will offer up to six months’ lease extension on requests received through May 31, 2020; payment deferrals of 30-60 days on a case-by-case need; 90-day deferrals on the first payment in some states and where applicable; and 1.95% discount financing for 60 months for qualified buyers through June 1.
