Radar Detection Comes to the iPhone

If you’re trying to outwit your town’s speed traps and highway patrol, this latest iPhone app will be up your alley.

The Cobra iRadar system is a combination iPhone app and radar detection unit that gives 360-degree detection of X-, K- and Ka-band radars and laser-based detection devices.

The detection unit houses the radar- and laser-detection technology, which is relayed to your iPhone via Bluetooth.

Besides the detection unit, the iRadar iPhone app can alert you to the location of speed and red-light cameras, speed traps and dangerous intersections.

One of the bonuses of this system is the small size of the radar device since it doesn’t need to display any results. That means it won’t take up valuable space on your dash and there isn’t a huge cord hanging down to an outlet. You’ll still need to have your iPhone in a cradle though to view and use the app safely.

IRadar is only compatible with the iPhone and costs around $169.95.
