Ford is voluntarily recalling about 11,500 model-year 2013 Escapes with the 1.6-liter engine. The automaker advises customers not to drive these Escapes and to contact their dealers immediately for the repairs.
On Escapes with the turbo 1.6-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, which is found in the midlevel SE and SEL trims, the engine compartment fuel line could split and leak fuel, leading to an underhood fire. No injuries have been reported. The recall doesn’t affect Escapes with the 2.0-liter and 2.5-liter engines.
Ford dealers will deliver a loaner vehicle to affected owners and transport their Escapes to the dealership for repairs, which should take an hour depending on parts availability.
