The COVID-19 pandemic has affected everyone around the world, and automakers are no different. But that doesn’t mean that the Honda showroom isn’t getting some love for 2021, and the automaker has shown us some of what’s coming later in 2020 for several popular models.

Here’s everything we know about what’s new with Honda for the 2021 model year:

2021 Honda Odyssey Minivan

On sale in early August, the new Odyssey receives a decent freshening, some new technology and a host of changes to options packages. The styling changes a bit to bring it in line with Honda’s latest Passport and Pilot SUVs, featuring new LED headlights, a blackout grille, a redesigned lower bumper up front and a gloss-black trim panel under the rear window with a chrome strip. The top Elite trim level will receive new 19-inch alloy wheels and auto-dimming side mirrors.

Inside, the Odyssey gets a new rear-seat reminder system that warns drivers to check the back seats before exiting the van using an audible chime and a warning message displayed on the instrument cluster. On the top Touring and Elite trims, the system ties in with the exclusive CabinWatch rear-seat camera to display the rear seating areas on the central touchscreen to actually show the driver what might still be buckled in back there.

Other interior changes include second-row seatbacks that fold nearly flat for easier seat removal on all models, while EX and higher trims get new tricolor floormats and illuminated USB ports. New seats are in order for EX-L and higher trims, with contrast stitching, power lumbar passenger seat and second-row seatback pockets. Touring and Elite models get new piano-black trim on the dash, door and front door handle, while the Elite also gets perforated leather in the first and second rows with contrast stitching and piping in all three rows, along with unique dash trim. Finally, all 2021 Odyssey models now will feature the Honda Sensing suite of advanced electronic safety features as standard.

The 2021 model went on sale in May, and features mostly carry over details with a few exceptions. The novel LaneWatch system is gone from the EX and Touring trims, replaced now with a blind spot information system. Cross-traffic monitoring is standard on EX and Touring and optional elsewhere, while a new Radiant Red Metallic color can be had.

The new 2021 model went on sale in June and now features two things across the board on all trims: a nine-speed automatic transmission and dual-zone automatic climate control. The Black Edition trim adds (curiously) Platinum White Pearl exterior paint as an option, while a new Special Edition trim now appears, slotting in between the EX-L and Touring trim levels. It adds 20-inch black wheels; black roof rails, grille, and front and rear lower skid covers; a hands-free power liftgate; wireless phone charging; and special badges on the fenders.

2021 Honda Civic Type R Limited Edition Sedan

Coming in the latter half of 2020 will be a Limited Edition version of the Civic Type R, of which only 600 units will be brought to the U.S. market (better snap one up fast). It will only be available in Phoenix Yellow Pearl with a gloss-black roof, mirrors and hood intake vent. BBS aluminum wheels are lighter-weight than stock, dropping unsprung weight by 18 pounds, and they’ll be shod in Michelin Sport Cup 2 performance tires (the new rubber will be matched by recalibrated dampers and steering control, as well). Weight has also been removed from the car thanks to reduced sound-deadening materials and the removal of the rear wiper, tonneau cover and rear heater ducts — for a savings of 20 pounds.

The rest of the updates that were made for the 2020 model year will carry over to the 2021 Limited Edition Type R, as well. These include new styling, a redesigned radiator, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and a new shift knob.

The HR-V only has a couple of minor changes: new wheels for the Sport trim and above and new rear privacy glass on Sport trims.

Details of the 2021 Accord sedan and Ridgeline pickup truck were still being finalized, according to Honda, and are still to be determined for later this year.
