For 2020, GMC is adding new design, safety and technology features to its lineup of pickup trucks and SUVs. New standard safety tech is coming to the Terrain, while the refreshed Acadia will get changes to the standard powertrain and media system updates for the new model year. The GMC Terrain compact SUV will get an extended safety package — GMC Pro Safety — standard on all trim levels for 2020. The package includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision alert, lane keep assistance with lane departure warning, following-distance indicator, front pedestrian braking and automatic high-beam headlamps. The Denali models of the Terrain will also see updates, including a premium suspension for a quieter, more refined ride.
Hitting dealerships later this summer, GMC’s refreshed-for-2020 Acadia mid-size SUV will get some changes to design as well as newly standard safety features like lane change alert with blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and rear park assist. A new turbocharged 2.0-liter engine is now standard on the SLT trim, and a new nine-speed automatic transmission is now standard for the 2.0-, 2.5- and 3.6-liter engines. The 2020 Acadia will also get the new GMC infotainment system and a new head-up display (late availability).
GMC will offer the first AT4 Acadia in 2020, making the SUV the newest addition to the sub-brand, where it will join the Sierra 1500 and Sierra 2500/3500 pickup trucks. GMC said it plans to make AT4 available across its entire lineup in the next two years. The AT4 Acadia will have more aggressive styling and darker finishes than its non-AT4 counterparts, as well as the new turbo 2.0-liter engine.
For 2020, GMC trucks will get a range of tech updates. The Sierra 1500 gets an upgraded optional ProGrade Trailering System with 15 camera views and transparent trailer view (accessory equipment required). A turbo-diesel 3.0-liter Duramax engine also will be available and availability of the 10-speed automatic transmission will expand to 5.3-liter V-8 SLT, AT4 and Denali trims with four-wheel drive.
On the power side, the all-new 2020 Sierra 2500/3500 will get an update to the available turbo-diesel 6.6-liter engine, which will be paired with a new 10-speed automatic transmission. The heavy-duty trucks will also get the new ProGrade Trailering System, as well as smart trailer integration, which allows you to monitor and control functions of compatibly equipped trailers; both are optional. An available 15-inch diagonal head-up display and available rear camera mirror are also new for 2020.
The GMC Canyon won’t see many changes in 2020. It will get a standard tire fill alert, an available remote locking tailgate and new available safety packages.
