Worst car buying experience ever.

Worst car buying experience ever. Selected car and began the buying process. Every step was so fragmented with a different person. They wouldn't tell you anything about future steps until you were at that step and if they did because you were specifically asking, then the info was wrong. The whole process was over a week and at the end we were so fed up that we canceled it at the end. Despite that they still tried to deliver the car. The communication was beyond lacking, it was atrocious! They are also overly invasive demand full SSN (even when not financing through them) and if you are paying in full, they require you to log into your banking information, through their site btw, so they can access your personal accounts to "confirm" funds. They won't accept bank statements or receipts. They also lie about how this process works or don't disclose all this until you try to do it. Ultimately this whole company is not worth it.

Disappointment and Disrespected

The staff online and over the phone were more than helpful and friendly, but as soon as I stepped in the showroom things went south, and it went there in a hurry. I was prepared to pay for a vehicle, in cash mind you, that was shipped from another location of theirs. The vehicle was on their lot for two days before I went to my appointment to look at it. Upon arrival, the receptionist had no clue why I was there in the first place. I then had to wait an additional 20 minutes before a salesperson could help me. While waiting, I walked out to the vehicle to look it over and it was in no way, shape or form presentable for a buyer. The exterior was filthy and covered in grease and the wheels were coated in a film of grime. The bed of the truck has scratched and banged up in a way that shouldn't be for a truck that has 3000 miles on it. The sales manager even agreed that the way the truck was presented was not acceptable and proceeded to do nothing about at that moment other than try to pressure me into buying the vehicle right then and there. He said that we could bring it back after the weekend to have the cosmetic team look at it to possibly fix things... When I told him that I would not be buying it that night due to the condition it was in, it seemed as if he could care less. When I mentioned that I was prepared to purchase with cash, he rolled his eyes at me and at that point, he lost my business for life.

Contracts are POINTLESS

I bought a car 3 months ago thru CarMax autofinancing. 2 weeks ago i had a accident and my insurance company has stated car as total loss. They gave me 2 option, to keep the vehicle and to pay CarMax value of car before accident - salvage value = 3221$ Or they want pay to carmax 4500$ and they keep the vehicle. I choosed the option 1. But talking with CarMax about a option to use that check of 3221$ to repair the car, they told me that if i want to keep the vehicle i have to pay 7000$ (remaining balance of the lease) When i asked them where is that stated in the contract, that they are allowed to request full amount in upfront if i have any damages on car, they put me on hold for 1h30min and transfered me over 2 departments in that time. At the end i was talking with "supervisor" and she "explained me" that it is stated in their internal policy which is not available on their website neither do in my contract/paperwork that i got from them. She said that i never signed and never was awared of that, and i dont need to sign something like that but i cannot get access to my car if i dont pay 7000 $ in upfront. Now i have to hire the lawyer and to go on court with this company while my car is not in my possession and im still paying monthly rate for car and for insurance. Im using my car to work for UberEATS, DoorDash , PostMate. I cannot work , and i have to pay car in one week! Again, i never was awared that they are allowed to request payment in upfront remaining balance if i have ANY damages on the car, even if that is a total loss (i have already ordered parts to make car drive able) I NEVER SIGNED SOMETHING AS THAT, I NEVER WOULD! These information are not available ANYWHERE on the date 20. February 2020. ! I dont know how that can be legal ! Im considering this as heavy fraud ! ontracts about buying a car are long, but there is NEITHER THE ONE section talking about that they have law right to do this. I dont understand why they acted as this in my situation because i would keep paying my monthly rate and after my lease is over, title of the car would be mine as the car ofc. So it is not really matter for them in what condition car would be. But i cannot accept that there is some "INTERNAL POLICY" where customer is not awared of anything what is in there and it is affecting the whole contract that i have signed with them. Why we are signing the contract anyway ?? when they can write whatever they want in their "INTERNAL POLICY"

Don't buy they are dishonest

They cheat people and are very dishonest forcing you to take a high finance rate with them instead of a lower rate from another company.

Rude staff

My husband and I had been looking for a car and saw few we liked online at this Carmax, so we went ahead and got prequalified for a car loan online through their website. When we got to the Carmax the salesman that greeted us helped us look at one of the cars we were interested in, however he had no idea anything about the car. He even said he was not familiar with the car. My husband and I were looking for a car with Apple CarPlay but he had no clue which cars did or did not have that feature. He then preceded to try and argue with me about which cars had the feature and did not even though he previously said he had no idea. Meanwhile I was looking at the official IOS website. Another salesman then took us back out to one of the cars to see if he could figure out the CarPlay, then proceeded to tell my husband and I that we didn’t NEED CarPlay because the car had a (dated) navigation system and a feature that would read my text messages to me. How is he going to tell us what we need and do not need?! Overall the experience was awful, so we drove to an actual dealership where they knew what they were talking about. I don’t suggest going here if you actually need help finding the right car for your family and to fit what you know you need.

DO NOT GIVE CARMAX YOUR BUSINESS!

If I could give a NEGATIVE 10 in stars that wouldn’t be low enough! We have purchased 4 vehicles from this company in the past 5 years. LOYALTY MEANS NOTHING to these people! When it finally csme down to US selling to THEM, it was a whole different ball game! They quoted us $23K. We decided to wait a bit longer. We went back with the same vehicle, only added about $1,500 miles on it. Their new offer, 5 months later, was $5,000 less! Oh, and don’t even get me started on the fact that they accused us adding 20,000 miles in 5 months and changing the hood of our car! Seriously, Car Max? FABRICATING INFORMATION TO DRIVE DOWN YOUR QUOTE IS INCREDIBLY UNETHICAL! ISO a new car company that is ETHICAL and HONEST!

Price listed is the price you pay!

Dealt with this CarMax dealer over the phone and email. Tried to negotiate a price based on other dealers in the area for the same vehicle and was told that the price listed was the price you pay!
