CarMax Irvine was a useful place to see and try different makes and models of cars. However, they will NEVER see a dime from me or anyone I can spread the word to because of the rude and sexist sales person we dealt with the first time we went in. We had an appointment to browse, and were assigned to Mahanth Kommireddy. When he came up to us, he shook my hand, introduced himself to me, AND THEN COMPLETELY IGNORED MY WIFE. We almost walked out right there, but wanted to test drive a car so we bit our tongues. Even once we went to his desk, he still did not acknowledge her at all. If this is how he treats wives of potential customers, I'm sure this isn't the first and won't be the last time he costs them business. I ended up doing the whole sit through the dealer nightmare that they are supposed to be a better alternative to because I refuse to reward such awful behavior.

Ruined, absolutely RUINED a surprise for my son. His first car and I was promised car would be buffed and clean upon delivery. Went 2 days later as they said car was ready. Walked out and surprised my son with a car that had streaks ALL over. Swirls everywhere, and windows looked to be cleaned with a towel with tire dressing. 3 cars out there for delivery and ALL the windows looked the same. Car was supposedto be buffed because of light scratches on every single panel. IF they tried to buff, they did it wrong. You do NOT buff a car over contamination in the paing. Clay bar first, then buff. Running your hand over the paint you could feel all the bumps from contamination. Car looked absolutely horrible. Left super upset and even had to clean the windows inside and out with napkins and bottled water to be able to see at night. Only 1 chance to surprise my son and entrusting these people was a HUGE mistake. Will never go there again, nor my friends and family. I do not do social media platforms but ma y of my customers do. We WILL be spreading this awful experience.

The supervisor, Steve thinks it is funny to disrespect and insult women. My wife bought a 2020 vehicle and it has had issues and Steve has been demeaning to her and not had the issues fixed. Patrick and Marvin in Service Department also have ignored her and not responded to the many attempts to simply fix what was broken on the car as promised by the salesperson.

The salesman are terrible liars. They try a shoddy job trying to hide unreported damage on cars and try to sell them as “fully inspected with no defects”. Lol. Also, Peter the sales manager can’t make a sale to save his life. So, put 2+2 together. Avoid this place

Apparently this location has a track record of cancelling reservations / holds (in my case a transfer down payment). Absolutely horrible experience with a car i believed to have been purchased. Currently dealing with corporate customer service to try and make things right, but don’t have much faith.

Prior to the COVID-19 closure I was working with the sales team at CarMax Irvine to place a hold on a 2019 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport S. The day of my appointment, the dealership was closed due to California state requirements. Fast forward a couple of weeks and I was able to schedule a new appointment. The morning I was to go in, I received a text that the vehicle hold was ‘accidentally’ deleted and it was sold. A few days ago. Nobody bothered to check, or call? After weeks of communication with the sales team? Shady and unethical. At least I was saved the time and effort of visiting the location. Terrible process and a complete waste of effort. Don’t bother trying to schedule appointments - they are not honored. Completely disappointing experience.

I arranged via their online contact to test drive a used GTI and drove 20 minutes during my lunch hour for a pre-arranged appointment. Once at the dealer, I was told the person I had been texting with did not work there but was at a call center on the other side of the country. Not only had the car I was test driving not been put on hold, it was actually sold. The deleted hold showed up clearly on the system but yet I was still given an appointment for a car that wasn't even on the lot. The person who helped me in Irvine was nice enough and somewhat apologetic but certainly didn't seem overly concerned with the situation. The person in the call center was very apologetic, but still, it's a big oversight. I'm lucky I didn't have to drive further.

They were very helpful in transferring to the local dealer, providing the vehicle report, performing additional inspections and in the buying process. I would definitely shop with CarMax again.

I found the car I wanted at this location and they were super helpful in getting it transferred FREE to a location closer to me so I can go in to pick up.
