Excellent experience.

Experience was great with price and quality being number one. I hate car shopping, but the owner was fantastic walking us through selection. He also knew backgrounds on all stock. Amazing experience. Car bought in 3/2019

No frills practical place to shop for cars

This is a no-nonsense place to buy a practical car. It's not fancy, and there are no matching golf shirts on the staff. For a small dealer, they had a good selection of practical affordable cars, and it's worth the trip to Shullsburg. We bought a Chevy Volt (LOVE this car.) We would definitely look here again. The car has been great, no problems, just low low gas bills! Car was as advertised. Very happy with it.

Dealer response

I dropped the ball by not letting them know it was sold. I originally emailed them that I thought it was sold, which ended up happening.

Definitely recommend--will buy from again!

We were impressed enough with the prices we saw online from Shullsburg Auto to make an 80-mile trip from Iowa to Wisconsin. We found a car and purchased it. We were never given a hard-sell, and the negotiations were hassle-free. Unfortunately, we had a problem transferring the title to Iowa. There was a paperwork glitch that there was no way anyone could have known about beforehand. BJ at Shullsburg Auto was amazing! He was able to get everything worked out and kept us up to date throughout the process. We ended up with a great car from a great dealer. We will drive the 80 miles to buy from BJ and Shullsburg Auto again!

Don't even go there

It took over a week and 3 tries to get anyone to even e-mail me back. Then it wasn't even a counter offer but a rude response. I guess they make enough money they can choose who they wish to do business with. hen car dealers wonder why they are regarded lower then realtors and tax assessors. collectors

2000 Ford Ranger

I contacted Shullsburg Auto in Wisc. about more info on the Ranger asking for pictures of the insides especially the seats and also for a Carfax report about 3 weeks ago never received any thing except a message stating the truck was still on their lot. I would be flying up from Texas to purchase this truck so I wanted as much info as possible before traveling that far.

A Good Car Buying Experience

I was pleased with my experience at Shullsburg Auto. My fiancee and I needed to get her a good used car and found a fair price for a 2012 Dodge Avenger from Shullsburg Auto listed on cars.com. We drove over from Dubuque, test drove it, and ended up buying it the next day. BJ (owner) was pleasant to deal with and fair with our trade. We are happy with the car and hope to drive it for several years. I would buy from them again and recommend Shullsburg Auto to a friend or relative.

Good but questionable service

I contacted the owner BJ regarding a Jetta they had for sale. He was very accommodating, even going out and sending me more pictures of the engine and telling me everything he saw wrong with the car. This was a great help as it was about a 3 hour drive to the dealership. When we got there, the car actually had a strut tower that was rusted about 3/4 of the way around and cracked open, with a gap of about 2 fingers (1 1/2") he said he never saw. I finally decided it wasn't worth the asking price or even the lowest price he would go to, as even with my donor Jetta at home, you wouldn't know if you got it cut and welded perfectly, and that's your front end alignment. The thought of trying to drive 3 hours at freeway speeds with the possibility of the tower giving way and the strut coming through the hood, and directing the car immediately off the road on the right, even possibly flipping it, was a little too much. It's hard to say if he really never saw the strut tower damage, or if he hoped no one else would, but I felt he was pretty up front about most everything else. Just wish we hadn't wasted the $80 in gas plus 7 hours of our time to go down there for nothing.

This was a car I had listed for $1,200. After finding the crack in strut tower I took it to the auction and got rid of it.

Great Small Town Dealership - Felt like Family

BJ the owner was great from the first phone call. He talked to me like I was a good friend and was very concerned that I was getting all the information I requested before making the drive to Shullsburg. Customer service was above and beyond and price was very competitive. BJ said the vehicle was in "like new" condition and it was! His dealership had done all the immediate maintenance needs like new tires, brake pads and rotors... definitely would recommend purchasing from Shullsburg Auto.

Great customer service

When I first saw this car I was impressed with the customer service from the owner BJ. He was very willing to go the extra mile and help me out. He was very understanding and very reputable. I would highly recommend others to check out his website when they are shopping for a new vehicle.
