Great experience at Southern Palms Mazda. Slava was my salesman, with help from Juan, and managers Eddy and Ben also worked with me to make the deal happen. I never felt pressured or overwhelmed, and they worked with my budget to get me no money down, a good interest rate, and a payment I was comfortable with. Even with the dealer fees, the overall deal was very reasonable. I had never really considered Mazda before, but after driving the CX-50 Hybrid, I was sold. It honestly feels crafted by an artist rather than simply manufactured. Very happy with my purchase and grateful to everyone who helped me. They also included a lifetime warranty. Hopefully I never need it, but if I do, I’ll come back and update this review with my honest experience of whether it actually helped.

I've purchased two vehicles from this dealership in the past — most recently a year and a half ago — which is why I came back to consider a third. That loyalty was met with one of the worst customer service experiences I've had at a car dealership. Previously I had a very positive experience with this Mazda dealership — this visit was a stark contrast. Part of the reason I kept coming back to this dealership was Abby Cook. I originally bought a car from her when she was a salesperson, and last summer, when she'd moved up to manager, she was so willing to work with me on a deal. I ended up going with a Toyota instead of the Mazda I was looking at with her at the time, but that experience stuck with me and is a big part of why this dealership stayed on my list. This time, the salesman himself was pleasant to deal with. I told him upfront I was looking for the best price and wasn't there to play games — I just wanted their best number at the door, before I revealed what I'd been quoted elsewhere. He came back with a price $2,000 over my best offer without even knowing what that number was. At that point I told him I wasn't there for games, said "if you want to make a deal, give me a call," and got up and walked out. The salesperson came out after me along with a tall gentleman I assumed was a manager, who was quite pleasant and asked if I could just wait while they tried to work something out and beat the competitive offer. I sat in my car in the parking lot and waited. Unfortunately, that pleasant gentleman was not the one who came back out — instead it was a short manager with a beard, who never introduced himself and had a noticeably abrasive attitude from the start. I mentioned my history with Abby Cook and how her service was a big reason I kept coming back. He responded by badmouthing her, saying she was "horrible" and that's why she was let go. I corrected him and said I'd actually had a great experience with her — but the tone of the conversation had already soured. He eventually offered a price $200 under my competing quote, presented as a take-it-or-leave-it deal. When I told him I still needed to find out what my trade-in was worth from him, another dealer, and probably CarMax before deciding, he seemed offended, turned around, and walked away without another word. The salesman was fine to work with, but the short manager's unprofessionalism — no name given, badmouthing a former employee, and walking away over a reasonable request.

Dealer response

Hi, thank you for sharing your experience with us. I'm truly sorry to hear that your recent visit did not reflect the customer-centric service you previously enjoyed, especially with Abby. Your feedback about the interaction with our management is concerning, and I assure you we will address this to ensure our team embodies the honesty and reliability we strive for. We appreciate your loyalty and would love the opportunity to regain your trust. Please reach out to us at (561) 491-5518 when you can so we can address this situation directly. Thank you, and have a great day.

Consumer response

Your dealership is a joke. You write a request me to contact you but no name and the number provided is a main number into an automated system; press 1 for sales, press 2 for service. How can you gain someone’s trust and rectify a situation if there is not an actual member of management to speak with. Awful way to conduct business. Why bother responding if you don’t actually provide a name or extension.

A huge shout-out to Carlos Gonzalez at Southern Palms Mazda!! After 12 years, our daughter was ready for a new car After test-driving a few options, she fell in love with the look, feel and features of the Mazda CX-5. She had her heart set on a specific color combination and found the perfect match at Southern Palms Mazda in Royal Palm Beach. We were greeted by Account Executive Carlos Gonzalez, who knew exactly which vehicle she wanted and spent the next five hours ensuring she got the best deal possible. Carlos was professional, thorough and straightforward with zero pressure. He went above and beyond by helping her transfer her belongings from her old car to her new car in the rain and patiently walked her through all the cars features so she felt comfortable driving home. He even managed to salvage her old SunPass so she wouldn't have to buy a new one. Carlos made this a wonderful experience for our daughter. We couldn't have been happier with his service and highly recommend him. Arleen Kupfer (mother of car purchaser - Michelle Kupfer) Our daughter was ready for a new car after 12 years. Knowing that I’m a big research guy who often studies Consumer Reports for the best prices and options, I gladly went with her. I have been waiting over 2 months for my missing accessories, car manual, reimbursement check, missing 2nd key, and vehicle registration. YES, you read that right, I was sold a vehicle without a registration in hand. Unable to safely drive my vehicle for over 2 months. Complaints filed with DMV and Mazda corporation for investigation. I purchased 2 cars from the dealership and while getting services, my vehicle was damaged. Had electrical issues within 2 weeks or purchasing my first vehicle from this dealership. This is unacceptable.

My experience with this Mazda dealership has been extremely disappointing. Unfortunately, it has been one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had. Not only am I paying a higher monthly payment than expected, but the dealership also lost my license plate. This is a very serious issue that reflects poorly on the dealership's organization, professionalism, and the competence of its employees. Because of their mistake, I had to handle all the legal procedures myself to report and suspend the lost plate. This situation was entirely their responsibility, yet I was the one forced to spend my time dealing with the consequences. To make matters worse, I have sent multiple messages to several employees at this dealership and have never received a response. I have also tried repeatedly to reach the manager, but no one has bothered to contact me or provide any meaningful assistance. Today, more than 20 days after purchasing my vehicle, I still have not received a replacement license plate, and several other urgent and important issues remain unresolved. This level of customer service is unacceptable. I expected much more from a Mazda dealership, but instead I have been met with negligence, poor communication, and a complete lack of accountability. For these reasons, I cannot recommend this dealership. If you are considering buying or leasing a vehicle here, I strongly encourage you to take your business elsewhere. You deserve a dealership that values its customers, communicates honestly, and takes responsibility for its mistakes.
