This is our third Subaru purchase from St. J. Each time our sales lady, Rose, and the St. J sales staff went out of their way to locate or order the exact vehicle we wanted. We were introduced to the service dept. staff and scheduled our first free oil change before we left with our new Forester hybrid. As with our previous Subarus, our new Forester has been trouble free, smooth riding and yields excellent fuel mileage. We'll be back to St. J Subaru for our future trades.

St J's is AWFUL AND DISHONEST!-this is what you will read at the end of this review- *********** "Avoid their shifty sales techniques or get taken advantage of like us. The staff there pulled a fast one and are probably still laughing at us for being trusting-suckers. ************* Good People of St. Johnsbury VT. and surrounding communities, just in case you have seen the wonderful happy ads about what a decent Dealership St. J's subaru is and how generous they are to the community-let me warn you don't be fooled. In the market for a used toyota, we followed a lead up to St J's. Questions about condition with the unseen parts of the car (brake pads, rotors etc) were met with a declaration "the car has been service to meet the standard". We were told the rotors were machined. The brakes were "crunchy" but given the notice of the rotor repair, we expected to replace the front brake pads ourselves. The dealership happlily took our money and we headed to our reputable, honest, long standing Toyota Dealership to hear the horrible news. Not only were the brakes needing pads, the entire rear brake elements needed replacement, the front brakes needed pads and machining. In addition, the bushing arms and related parts needed replacement. Our Toyota service department was shocked that the car was sold without these having been addressed. The extra expense was large. Our service tech said if this happened with a used vehicle they sold, the sales department would make sure there was a remedy-as that would be the decent and right thing to do. St J's refused to help and hid under the "we meet the minimum standard and do not look at the car after initial service upon intake". The sales manager even suggested that our local service lied about the condition and made up the story about it needing repair to be safe. Furthermore, the sales manager suggested that we could be in cahoots with our service tech to bilk St. Js out of money. All we were looking for was to have some honest recognition of the condition they foisted upon us and take some financial responsiblity to the tune of 1000$, certainly a sum that a highly profitable dealer could cover. You would think trying to preserve a reputation was worth it. Apparently not and they are probably still laughing at us. Bottom line, if you visit St. J's auto for a used car know that they set the bar very low with the "minimum" standard as cover to sell problematic cars at jacked up prices. They are cheats in our eyes and had no decency or class to acknowledge their misdeeds. Avoid their shift sales techniques or get taken advantage of like us. The staff there pulled a fast one and probably laughed at us as we left the dealership

The absolute worst and sleaziest used car salesman I have ever dealt with. Stay away, they take advantage of young first time female car buyers.

I recently had the pleasure of purchasing a 2021 Subaru Forester from St J Subaru, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked into the dealership, we were met with professionalism and a genuine eagerness to assist. The customer service provided by the team at St J Subaru was top-notch. They were not only reasonable in their negotiations but also went above and beyond to ensure we understood all our options without feeling any pressure. It's rare to find a dealership that combines such transparency with minimal fees, laying out everything clearly and concisely. What really stood out to us was their willingness to work with us on our trade-in. They offered the most competitive value for our previous vehicle, which significantly contributed to making the whole process smooth and favorable. The entire purchase experience was made easy and enjoyable, thanks to their helpful and accommodating approach. We left the dealership very happy with our new Forester and deeply appreciative of the effort the St J Subaru team put into making everything perfect. If you're in the market for a Subaru, I highly recommend visiting St J Subaru. Their commitment to excellent customer service, fair dealing, and making the car buying process as straightforward as possible is commendable. Thank you, St J Subaru, for such a great car buying experience. We are thrilled with our new Forester and look forward to being part of the Subaru family for years to come.

What can I say call and Justin were the absolute best best salesman I've seen in the car industry in a while. They went out of their way to accommodate me and made me feel like a valued customer. I can't see any anything better about them. They were the best

Do not bring your car here for service. The guys at the desk are nice but they try to scam you into having work done that you don't need and not even what you went there for. I just wanted them to diagnose if my AWD was working as my regular mechanic noticed what might be a problem with it. I paid alot of money for an extended warranty when I bought the car from another car dealer out of town. When I went to St. J Subaru I was told they don't honor those unless they sold it to me blah blah blah. Fine. When they were supposed to be checking my AWD they decided to try to scam me into having a tie rod replaced and then an alignment before they could diagnose further. What a crock!!! One has nothing to do with the other and I never asked for an alignment from them. I did not have them do any work as my own mechanic will do any repairs and alignment way cheaper than they quoted. I still ended up paying over $100 for their time and received nothing for it. BEWARE of these dealerships. Have your service done by an honest local mechanic who doesnt need to lie and charge 200% more for parts and labor for repairs you didn't ask for. Its ridiculous. I may be blonde but I'm not stupid.

Walked in to only half the staff wearing masked, the saws manager didn’t have one on the entire 5 hours we were there, just had it dangling from his one ear while people went in and out of his office, really gross, then our salesmen kalmen rosenfield kept walking away to not one other costumer, but two!!! Only checking in with us ever ten minutes or so asking us vague questions and having us sign random forms. We were very direct about our finances and for five hours he had us thinking we were driving away in a nice car, told us we were approved we just needed some documents, took my $5000 cash and even handed me a receipt, told us to call and get insurance on the car and we could finalize things Monday, just to have our salesmen come out of nowhere once more and laugh and tell us we don’t need to wait on hold with our insurance as we won’t be needing it and to follow him to finance where that gentleman gives us a very phony reason for walking back the deal and hands us our money back and asks for the receipt back, I demanded a clear answer as to what happened and it was a load of hocus locus he didn’t trust my address I’ve lived at for 20 years, on my taxes and my license all my bills which we showed him. I pay utilities in other locations and he saw that and freaked out and said he couldn’t work with any of my documents and my partner would need a new co-signer. We have the same address. I bought a car from them three years ago and had no issues with my address or literally any question about it. In the finance department I can cut them some slack because the salesmen allegedly did a horrible job communicating our actually financials initially, which just made the whole situation uncomfortable for everyone. I wish we had gotten the attention we deserved so things could’ve been communicated better but long story short, they let me waste five hours there and pay for a car just to give me my money back and tell me I’m worthless and untrustworthy. Listen when people recommend Burlington Subaru over these xxxx hole. They only care about easy money and lots of it here at stj.

Let me start by saying Saint J Subaru prices are very good. I price shopped a number of dealerships in the region to determine what dealership I wanted to visit. Perhaps that was were I went wrong. The entire experience was a nightmare I wish never to repeat. Firstly to spend over four and a half hours at a dealership on a weekday when we were the only customers in the sales department is grossly excessive. The amount of time my husband and I were waiting to be seen by one person or another was frustrating to say the least. I know sales can be time consuming but the time waiting for them to get us into finance and have our car cleaned made up the majority of our visit. In the middle of a pandemic the last thing I feel like doing is spending excessive amounts of time in a strange place. Next the negotiation was probably one of the most degrading experiences of my life. I should have walked out when I was asked at the start if "all the decision makers were present". I am working professional and a mother, I have never in all my adult years been talked down to like such a child. The rest of conversation primarily consisted of the sales person talking to me as though I didn't know what I was talking about continuously itemizing everything that was "wrong" with my trade and trying to nickel and dime me over a trade allowance glaring at me the entire time. There was nothing customer oriented about any of it (she never so much as gave me a card while the sales manager was apparently too important to even come out and introduce himself). The final gut punch came when I was finally brought into finance about three hours after my arrival at which point I was completely exhausted. After I had signed multiple pieces of paper stating I was agreeing to the sale price I was informed my interest rate would be the highest I have ever seen quoted for someone looking for the type of loan I was. I felt completely defeated and ready to get the heck out of there and agreed to something I never should have just to finance through one of their preferred banks. At this point I felt like I had been given such a bait and switch tactic because they flat out refused to give me even a range of interest until they knew we would be exhausted and agree to almost anything to get home. I know this isn't common practice as I have been given more upfront information at other dealerships. At the end of the day we left the dealership with I what I believe was a fair deal. I know there are dealerships out there that actually feel customer service oriented and I can tell you start to finish it was clear this was not one of them. If you value your dignity I would suggest avoiding this place.
