This is our third Subaru purchase from St. J. Each time our sales lady, Rose, and the St. J sales staff went out of their way to locate or order the exact vehicle we wanted. We were introduced to the service dept. staff and scheduled our first free oil change before we left with our new Forester hybrid. As with our previous Subarus, our new Forester has been trouble free, smooth riding and yields excellent fuel mileage. We'll be back to St. J Subaru for our future trades.

St J's is AWFUL AND DISHONEST!-this is what you will read at the end of this review- *********** "Avoid their shifty sales techniques or get taken advantage of like us. The staff there pulled a fast one and are probably still laughing at us for being trusting-suckers. ************* Good People of St. Johnsbury VT. and surrounding communities, just in case you have seen the wonderful happy ads about what a decent Dealership St. J's subaru is and how generous they are to the community-let me warn you don't be fooled. In the market for a used toyota, we followed a lead up to St J's. Questions about condition with the unseen parts of the car (brake pads, rotors etc) were met with a declaration "the car has been service to meet the standard". We were told the rotors were machined. The brakes were "crunchy" but given the notice of the rotor repair, we expected to replace the front brake pads ourselves. The dealership happlily took our money and we headed to our reputable, honest, long standing Toyota Dealership to hear the horrible news. Not only were the brakes needing pads, the entire rear brake elements needed replacement, the front brakes needed pads and machining. In addition, the bushing arms and related parts needed replacement. Our Toyota service department was shocked that the car was sold without these having been addressed. The extra expense was large. Our service tech said if this happened with a used vehicle they sold, the sales department would make sure there was a remedy-as that would be the decent and right thing to do. St J's refused to help and hid under the "we meet the minimum standard and do not look at the car after initial service upon intake". The sales manager even suggested that our local service lied about the condition and made up the story about it needing repair to be safe. Furthermore, the sales manager suggested that we could be in cahoots with our service tech to bilk St. Js out of money. All we were looking for was to have some honest recognition of the condition they foisted upon us and take some financial responsiblity to the tune of 1000$, certainly a sum that a highly profitable dealer could cover. You would think trying to preserve a reputation was worth it. Apparently not and they are probably still laughing at us. Bottom line, if you visit St. J's auto for a used car know that they set the bar very low with the "minimum" standard as cover to sell problematic cars at jacked up prices. They are cheats in our eyes and had no decency or class to acknowledge their misdeeds. Avoid their shift sales techniques or get taken advantage of like us. The staff there pulled a fast one and probably laughed at us as we left the dealership

While on the road traveling from Virginia to Newport. VT, the emergency brake light came on and would not go off. When calling our home Subaru dealer, they said we needed to get to a dealer right away. Luckily, we could stop at Saint J. One of the service men came out to take a look, diagnosed the problem in a couple minutes and corrected it by connecting two wires in an instant. No charge!! He was knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient! Unfortunately, we didn't get his name. We are lucky to have such a great Subaru dealer near our summer home in Vermont.

I’ve been a loyal customer of St. J Subaru, having purchased two vehicles and spent thousands on service over the years. Unfortunately, my most recent experience was incredibly disappointing. After purchasing a Certified Pre-Owned Subaru last year, I expected a higher level of customer service. When I brought my truck in for an issue, the General Manager was extremely disrespectful and accusatory. Instead of offering any support or even basic courtesy, he immediately dismissed my concerns and refused to take responsibility. Not once did he apologize for the issues I was having—he only focused on denying any help. I was told the vehicle was in perfect shape and covered under a 3-month, 3,000-mile warranty, yet they refused to cover the $282 battery replacement. To be fair, the rest of the staff were great to deal with, but the GM’s attitude completely soured my experience. I expected better from a dealership I’ve trusted for years. As a loyal Subaru customer, this has seriously made me reconsider ever returning to St. J Subaru.

The absolute worst and sleaziest used car salesman I have ever dealt with. Stay away, they take advantage of young first time female car buyers.

Dan Mitchell is a low key, respectful, and knowledgeable sales person. We heartily recommend him. Dan is a credit to this company's team. Sylvia Stark, in finance, assisted us well in making wise choices for protecting our new purchase, a CrossTrek Subaru. As a first-time Subaru buyer, we could not be more pleased with our experience. Lyonel & Sharlene Tracy, East Haven, Vermont

I recently had the pleasure of purchasing a 2021 Subaru Forester from St J Subaru, and I must say, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we walked into the dealership, we were met with professionalism and a genuine eagerness to assist. The customer service provided by the team at St J Subaru was top-notch. They were not only reasonable in their negotiations but also went above and beyond to ensure we understood all our options without feeling any pressure. It's rare to find a dealership that combines such transparency with minimal fees, laying out everything clearly and concisely. What really stood out to us was their willingness to work with us on our trade-in. They offered the most competitive value for our previous vehicle, which significantly contributed to making the whole process smooth and favorable. The entire purchase experience was made easy and enjoyable, thanks to their helpful and accommodating approach. We left the dealership very happy with our new Forester and deeply appreciative of the effort the St J Subaru team put into making everything perfect. If you're in the market for a Subaru, I highly recommend visiting St J Subaru. Their commitment to excellent customer service, fair dealing, and making the car buying process as straightforward as possible is commendable. Thank you, St J Subaru, for such a great car buying experience. We are thrilled with our new Forester and look forward to being part of the Subaru family for years to come.
