Bad experience from beginning to end

My overall experience from beginning to end is the worse I've had at any dealership I've done business with. There were a couple pluses which I'll address first, but the negatives outweigh the positives. They gave me above KBB value for my trade in and the salesman and manager stayed after hours on a Saturday finalizing the deal which I appreciate. My car had 8 miles when I took delivery. After washing it a couple days later I found scratches on the roof & rear door that could have been induced by the car wash/detail I let them do. I also found some scratches or scuff marks on the front bumper from hitting something or being hit by another vehicle. I took the car to a professional detailer to have them removed. I asked the salesman twice for some old paperwork that I forgot to keep to help transfer my old plates and never received it. Over 2 months passed since I signed the paperwork and get contacted by the salesman and manager (both in the same day and less than 5 hours apart) that there was a remaining balance on my old lease after the payoff check was posted asking to look in to it. Turns out it was a late payment fee since Honda had to send the check back to Schomp and get a new check sent since it was addressed incorrectly and the disposition fee of the lease since it wasn't a Honda dealer and I did not buy or lease another Honda. I don't know why it took so long for this to be addressed when Schomp should know how the process works and they have a disposition fee as well. Honda told me they get calls from dealers asking for payoff amount since leases are usually more complicated. The main reason I chose Schomp Mazda was I (along with family and friends) have acquired numerous vehicles from other Schomp dealerships and have had nothing but exceptional experiences. It's unfortunate that Mazda does not match those same standards and I'm sorry to say I will not be giving them anymore business.

Our General Sales Manager, Jim Kurtz, has been attempting to reach you to help resolve this issue for you. We are happy to take care of the late charge for you and when you are able to connect with Jim, if there is anything else necessary to resolve the plates transfer, he can assist with that as well. Please return his call at your earliest convenience so we can resolve this situation for you. We truly apologize for the inconvenience, thank you for giving us the opportunity to correct this issue.

Consumer response

Jim Kurtz reached out to me to discuss and address my concerns. He trained his staff so the same things don't happen to people. I appreciate everything he did to make things right.

Thank you Deeray!

My husband Ken and I met with Deeray on 3/6/19. We were looking for a pre-owned Mazda 3. Deeray was wonderful to work with. He had a great knowledge base of the vehicle we wanted and gave us several options to choose from to make sure we would be happy with our purchase. It was a pleasure to work with him and the group at Schomp Mazda.

Bought a used truck here

Bought a used truck. Salesman Soufiane Tangi was great! He got answers to all of my questions, got me a decent loan and squared it all away. I will have to come back and update pending a repair on the vehicle at their service center.

Thank you for the review of Schomp Mazda & Client Advisor Soufiane. Enjoy!

Great working with Tangi

Tangi was an amazing sales person. It was his second car he sold as he just started working there. He was very knowledgeable about the car we selected. He was very personable and not pushy. I would buy another car from him if I had to!

Shortline is the best.

I had a great experience with Shortline Mazda! I live in Loveland, which is a quite aways from Shortline. I had talked to Courtesy in Longmont, and Spradley Barr in Fort Collins, but felt they weren't helping me. Jake Fuller at Shortline was very helpful, and knowledgeable. I bought at Shortline since it was no nonsense, and they by far had the best price. It was well worth the travel distance. While I waited for my paperwork Zaki Abunada made me comfortable with the car and the features, which are substantial. He has always been available for any questions. I highly recommend Shortline.

Great experience buying a car!

Thanks to Rone at Shortline Mazda, leasing the new Mazda 3 touring was smooth and hassle-free. Since I was traveling from Boulder, he was pro-active in having me complete some formalities before I make the long trip. This saved me a lot of time. Also I got the car and the color just like I wanted, with the best deal!

Really wonderful to work with Rone!

Shortline and Rone made for a great car leasing experience. I was connected with Rone over the phone while doing research and he was extremely responsive to my questions via text before I made it into the dealership. He was also patient as we discussed different CX-5 models and saw me through the whole process. A great experience!

Best. Dealer experience. Ever.

Wow! I had no idea buying a new car could be so painless. I'm usually the guy who leaves because I feel a dealer's trying to play a shell game with numbers to get an extra $100 out of me. Well, not at Shortline. We already knew pretty much what we wanted, just trying to decide between the CX5 and CX9. Kyle was awesome in explaining the features and similarities/differences between the two. He let us drive each then left us alone to decide which we wanted. When we chose, there was absolutely no surprises over price. The price was exactly as advertised with no added dealer fees (tax was extra). Then it came time to discuss trade-in value. A manager came over and explained his process and attempted to set expectations. I was honest and told him everything I thought was wrong with the car including a previous accident and needing new brakes. I also told him the positives, like putting in a new key FOB battery (jokingly). He asked me if I wanted to look at the car with him and even if I wanted to drive it with him while he evaluated it. When he came back with the number it was unexpectedly near the top of the range he provided me at the start. He even added on $2 extra beyond the nice round number for the new key FOB battery! The people at Shortline even worked numbers around to see if it was better for us to take incentives or 0% financing and the paperwork was a breeze. The employees mentioned the business was sold recently and they were going through a transition. They said some things would be redundant and possibly take a little longer while they work through transitioning to new processes. I didn't notice anything on the business end, but that may be why the facility was a little bare (not of inventory!) with an unkempt feeling. I found myself straightening signs and displays in the service department at one point. At any rate, I hope I know their new name the next time I'm shopping for a new or used vehicle. This was by far the best car buying experience I've encountered.
