Double charge to take advantage of AZ VVRP

My 1988 Toyota Corolla recently failed emissions for the second and I was put into the “ Voluntary Vehicle Repair Program “ to get my car fixed. So I took my car to Bell Road Automotive for the necessary repairs. That same day I received a quote to fix of $1,763.00 and I was told I need to have the carburetor rebuilt, a tune-up and a oil change. I was shocked by the very high price and when I asked if I could get the estimate in writing the technician refused. I could not understand how they came to nearly $1,800.00 for the 3 services they recommended. So they wanted $900 from me and another $900 from the state. It’s a total double- dipping scam. Plus the fact that they refused to put anything in writing to show how those 3 services equal $1,763.00 is a HUGE red flag. I had my own mechanic work on the carburetor after I failed the 1st time and he changed the oil then. So I currently have less that 10 miles on the new oil change. The carburetor was rebuilt less that 3 years ago and I have a new distributor, cap, wires and spark plugs all done 6 months ago. I have all the receipts. So, I do not believe the technician even pulled the dipstick on the car, because if he had, he would have seen the oil was clear. The whole experience was repulsive as if they thought I knew nothing about car repairs and how much they should cost. It is a 1988 Toyota !!! A brand new carburetor cost $300. to rebuild the one I have costs half that amount, a oil change cost $40. and a tune-up, another $300. these are all “ high end “ ballpark estimates that do not even total $900 when you add the cost of labor. But since the maximum paid by the State of Arizona is $900. they come up with this outrageous total to over inflate the price x 2 to take advantage of both the customer and the state program to double their revenue. Steer clear of this place. Unless you like over paying and being scammed. I reported this incident to the officials at the VVRP, the state’s attorney generals office and the better business bureau. Steer clear, buyer beware of at least get a kiss before they f**k you. Sent from my iPad

Pressure sales and Bait and switch tactics terrible

Pressure sales and Bait and switch tactics terrible customer service I received a call yesterday telling me they had a toyota tacoma in stock with my specs. I was excited but at work and could not get there till 6 pm. I told the sales guy (marcus I think) that I understood it might not be available by the time of the appointment. And I did not want to come in and waste a trip across town if it sells. He told me he would call me if it did so I would not be wasting my time. I never received the call so I assumed it was still there. I left a work function early to make it to my scheduled appointment. When I arrived I was informed that all the tacomas already sold. Obviously I am now very angry at this point. So I wanted to talk to the guy who didn't do what he said he was going to do. I wanted to look him in the eye and tell him how messed up it was that he would waste someone's time. We have a limited amount of time on this planet and I do not want to waste mine. That coward would not come out to talk to me. 3 different sales people including the internet sales manager whom I had been dealing with before came out to apologize profusely. I appreciated this action but it isn't enough to appease my anger. This sales person should have called me and told me it was gone like he said he would. I have used Bell road toyota for my service on my vehicles since I moved to the valley. And I have to tell you, THEY will NEVER EVER get my service business again. Unless its a recall or warranty. I refuse to give them any money at this point. Also don't believe the price they tell you over the phone. Add 4-5k for their "dealer" adds. Be clear as to what you get on each one because they are NOT worth it. Clearly Management encourages this behavior because not a single manager came out to talk about what happened because they wait for it.....JUST DON"T CARE. Essentially this dealership cannot keep their word and employ shady tactics to sell cars/trucks Book appointments and when you don't have the item they came to see, try to sell them on something else. Oh and the bait and switch pricing is just wrong as well. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and AZ AG office as well. I hope this review helps you choose a more reputable location.

Consumer response

went in to look at a tacoma yesterday wasn't the one I wanted but I was considering it. I told the rep I did not want many dealer adds. I selected 2 I liked and he said he would go ask his manger if that was okay only after I signed a line stating I would guarantee to buy the vehicle if he got to that price. These kinds of pressure sales are whats wrong with dealerships. Screwing over long term customers for short term gains due to the current market will only get rid of loyal people. I used to use this dealership for all my service and I will never come back. All the sales rep had to do was make an ask and I would have considered a vehicle I didn't necessarily want. I used the excuse its not the model I want so i refused and left. This is 2 times I came into the dealership and didn't have a great experience. The difference this time is they had a vehicle present. HOWEVER I still did not get to see the inside of the vehicle. In what universe would I ever buy something I didn't get to actually get in, test drive (drive isn't necessary) but getting in and seeing the interior is pretty important. Do better BRT you are going to screw over your long time loyal customers and they will seek other dealerships and when this shortage is eventually over, your customers wont come back. I know I wont.

John Cuccio was the best car salesman I've ever dealt

John Cuccio was the best car salesman I've ever dealt with. He was professional, friendly, patient and very knowledgeable. We worked with him over a period of 6 weeks to get the vehicle we wanted and he was excellent during the whole process. He helped us get a great vehicle for a great price, despite the current state of the industry. We will definitely recommend him to everyone we know that is looking for a vehicle. I will keep his name and number for our future purchases as well. Carter Harper also worked with us and was great! He was professional, courteous and patient too and took the extra time to help us get the car my daughter really wanted. We appreciate both of them very much and would recommend them and Bell Road Toyota to anyone.

I was in the process of doing paper work for a Tacoma and

I was in the process of doing paper work for a Tacoma and we were finalizing the deal and just because another customer came in and put more cash down then I was going to they sold the truck right from under me. I was very upset and caught off guard when they told me it was sold already when I was there first. They tried to sweet talk me into getting into a 4 runner which was not what I wanted and I kept declining. It seemed to me that all they care about is money and not the actual customer . I would not recommend this dealership to anyone. Very disappointed in how they handled the situation. I am a paying customer and all I wanted was that truck and being there first and already having paperwork done you could imagine how I felt after they ended selling the truck to someone else anyway. That is not how business should be done. They kept trying to get me to buy other cars or trucks I had no interest in. Very DISAPPOINTED in this dealership!!!!!!

We were very pleased with our visit to Bell Toyota and especially working with salesman, Tim Carrasco. He was very knowledgeable, very sincere, and we certainly would have purchased a vehicle from him had our situation not changed. I recommend him to any of our friends that might be looking for a Toyota. Claire Warchol

Tim Carrasco was exceptional to work with! In a climate where car buying is challenging for consumers, he made it comfortable, positive, and informative. He promptly communicated and made sure all our questions were answered. We now have our dream car!

First time buyer, I was pressured and rushed into buying this car. 15 miles off the lot, the check engine light comes on. There is a list of things wrong with this car and they refuse to fix anything as it is “not a safety issue.” The mechanic that looked over the car was rude. I will not recommend buying from here.

Justin my sales guy was awesome. Once the deal went to finance it went to crap. The finance guy made my wife and I feel like total idiots and belittled us for 20 min because we didn't want a extended warranty on a 2021 and said if we were to strapped to afford the extra money for the warranty we should not buy the vehicle. I traded in a truck and a month later got a letter that my payment was past due and i had no insurance on the vehicle we had traded in. Called the bank and of course it was not paid off. Called and was told several times by June in finance a check was being sent next day to the credit union. It never was. After several calls and messages for the finance people, accounting and GM were never answered or returned I went down there and had to get upset with someone who had no hand in the deal originally for this to get resolved. I have never been so frustrated or felt so crappy after a car deal in my life. And never a sorry or even a call from anyone with authority at this place, if there is anyone there managing these deals. Cathy was the best and got my stuff done and she is behind the curtain not dealing with the sales. Thank you Cathy. I'm sorry you have to work here. I will not recommend or return to Bell Rd Toyota for anything.

Tim is not a salesperson he is a relationship person. He really went above and beyond when I purchased my vehicle and truly believes in a team atmosphere and cares about service overall not just making a sale. Also when I sold my vehicle to a different dealership he was still very helpful with canceling my gap and warranty. There is no one else I would work with and I recommend Tim for any and all of your Bell Road Toyota needs!

Seriously worst experience ever. Avoid at all costs. They act nice but it’s completely fake. They will pull your credit without consent over ten times. Not finance your vehicle when you asked them to. Threaten to take it back out of the blue. Like honestly wishing I never stepped inside the building. Worst and continuing to be the worst experience literally ever.
