My recent experience purchasing a 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid

My recent experience purchasing a 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid Hatchback from Chula Vista Honda on May 11-12, 2025 was an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience. I am writing this to warn potential buyers about the serious issues we encountered, which demonstrated a concerning level of negligence and lack of professionalism. While our salesperson, Andres, was not overtly rude, he displayed a significant lack of fundamental sales skills and attentiveness. This contributed to a sales process that felt disorganized and ultimately neglectful. Rather than feeling pressured, we experienced a downplaying of serious issues, particularly concerning the vehicle's condition. The most alarming issue was Chula Vista Honda's attempt to sell us a brand new 2025 vehicle with an active check engine light illuminated. Instead of addressing this critical fault proactively and with transparency, the severity of a check engine light on a new car was notably downplayed by our salesperson. This is a serious lapse in quality control and customer care, raising significant concerns about their business practices. For a dealership to even consider letting a new car leave the lot with such an issue, let alone minimize its importance, is unacceptable. Despite these significant red flags, we unfortunately proceeded with the purchase of the Civic Hybrid. The finance manager found out about the active check engine light and suggested we not take delivery of this vehicle and wait until the next day for service to look at the Civic to make sure the car was safe to drive. This turned out to be yet another mistake. We came back the next day after service cleared the vehicle as safe. Adding to the already poor experience, while attempting to affix the temporary license plates, our salesperson, Andres, damaged our brand new car. This act of carelessness was deeply frustrating and further highlighted a lack of professionalism and respect for a customer's significant purchase. Finally, after enduring a terrible sales process, neglecting to buy a car with a check engine light, and having our new car damaged by their staff, Chula Vista Honda didn't even bother with a proper delivery. Once the paperwork was signed, we were essentially just sent on our way with a damaged, problematic vehicle. There was no walkthrough of the car's features, no congratulations, just a clear desire to get us off the lot. I'm not even going to to in detail on how much time we spent on this car buying process. But it took about 8 hours in total, for both days! The dealership demonstrated a clear lack of respect for its customers, a willingness to sell faulty vehicles, and an unacceptable level of carelessness resulting in damage to a brand new car. I would strongly advise anyone considering purchasing a vehicle to steer clear of Chula Vista Honda. This dealership has proven they cannot be trusted to provide a fair, honest, or competent car buying experience. We are beyond disappointed and feel completely taken advantage of

Could not get worse. Get ready for disappointment

Very poor dealership. Made an appointment and the vehicle they confirmed an hour earlier could not be found. Received a call a week later after the car had gone through three price drops from "Dawn" and she never picked up the phone or called me back. Can't imagine what it would be with after the sale service. The car remains on their site for sale.

Not Interested in Selling Cars, Just Wasting Time

Do not waste your time. That is all they will do here. Brittany lied and told me this car was available and to come for a test drive. I make an appt for 30min, get there and she pretends she is someone else and has another guy tell me they have no such car in stock. No one even tried to sell me any car so we left. Worst sales team ever. Baffled why they are even open if they have no interest in selling cars

Chula Vista Honda Sucks!

This place really sucks! First they told me the truck I wanted was sold. Then they said it wasn't (oops, we made a "mistake"). Then I spent an entire day going back and forth with one of their sales reps via text and phone calls. Said he was "out of the office" and someone would call me to finish the sale. NO ONE ever called or texted. Then the next day he says he can't sell a vehicle over the phone?!? xxx?!?! And then their GM, Dawn Picard, sends me an email asking about my experience...and I told her and sent her copies of the text messages...and NO RESPONSE from her. This has to be one of the worst California car dealerships I have EVER dealt with. They are a huge waste of time. Go buy your car somewhere else. Trust me!!!

Horribly ran dealership

I had an appointment for an oil change, pulled up with no cars around. Employees staring at me just walking by, no acknowledgement for a 11 minutes. After acknowledging me I continued to wait to be helped then told that I have to wait for the person who set the appointment to get checked in. Then I was advised that the oil change is almost $100. xxx?? This is a Honda Civic, not a BMW. Oil change was fairly quick I dropped the car off since their waiting area was packed and not appropriately spread out. I then stood for 20 minutes being told I had to wait for the same gentleman to pay and leave. Not cool, if an employee is free they should just help a customer not collect an hourly wage and push off working. Christian is a hero as he seems to be the only person who actually works. I may give the dealer service a shot in the future but for just an oil change being close to $100 I’m not returning again. I also overheard them telling a customer who just bought a car a week ago that they will charge her to diagnose a squeaking sound (my car squeaks as well but not enough for me to complain.) She left seeming really disappointed that they were gonna charge her to inspect her new car.
