High star ratings could be true. I won't dismiss them. But it all depends on context. I am giving ZERO stars to Steve the service manager and potentially Karen Palacio for an inability to be professional and communicative. Trust the low star ratings from others. They are not wrong based on my experience today, 01/19/26. I even found one post that had a similar experience, posted 8/20/25. I had brought my car in a few weeks ago. I had been texting with Karen since then. When I brought my car in this morning our interaction had been very pleasant and she was helpful as she had been. Our pleasant rapport had been now established. I say this because of what's to follow (with my eventual bewilderment). When I received my car back about 90 minutes later communication broke down. She simply was returning my car. When I asked "How can that be?" she didn't understand why I would be asking the question. Not only did she not understand plainly but she did not understand because she did not even review the technician's video (the tech makes a video of his findings that is texted to the customer). After I let her know there were a few inaudible moments she herself said "I don't even know, I didn't watch it." No attitude, but nicely. Regardless, how can you be an ADVISOR and not go over EVERYTHING with the technician so that you have a full understanding in order to communicate effectively with the customer?? I don't know why I have to say this but the advisor is the go-between. The person that communicates the issues, the fixes, the costs, etc. It's like she said here are your keys...and then crickets. The issue was extremely straightforward forward - when the shifter is IN park the car would throw an error message saying the car is not in park. The technician on his video noted he could not reproduce the error message AFTER he took the vehicle on a road test. I told her, mind you not asking, but stated, but not rudely or disrespectfully "how could that be? why would it? When the car is in drive there's no reason for it to throw the message" I said this without attitude, without disrespect, just matter of fact. NORMAL conversation. She got up and said "let me see what's going on". I was happy she was looking into it. To my utter disbelief but even more so confusion she came back with the service manager Steve. But I thought he was another tech that was also going to be helpful. He said I'll take care of this and walked away. Again, very happy. But he came back quickly. He told me his name and his role. I innocently reached out my hand to shake his hand thinking he came out to expedite with the tech why he would take the car out on the road. He said "I'm not shaking your hand". He abruptly stopped any interaction and essentially said "we're not going to continue, I don't like the way you were speaking to her." I was absolutely dumbfounded, confused, stunned, and ten other adjectives on their response. I don't know if Karen was the problem, if she went to complain, it all happened too fast. But Steve is a joke of a human being. I was unequivocally respectful and a gentleman and ANYONE could see that in the department based on my, all beit short, interactions, with Tom, the gentleman in Parts, the receptionist. So, there are only a limited number of plausible explanations: a basic failure to communicate, an inability to correctly process clear visual cues, or an extreme sensitivity disproportionate to the circumstances, aka thin skin. What is not disputable is that the response itself was illogical and deviates from what any reasonable observer would consider normal. They were unprofessional. They were simply children. I don't know if the tech is incapable of diagnosing my issue and they could not offer a resolution so they made me the scapegoat. After all, the tech did not diagnose correctly. Open the dang door and the error message is BLANTANLY BEEPING. First hint right there! Plug in your ODB and you have your codes right there. THEY WON

We understand that you have a 2017 Golf R that has not been serviced at our store ever. You mentioned needing a shifter, which would typically require a diagnostic evaluation. Please note that we do not rely on recommendations from other shops; we prioritize ensuring that repairs are conducted correctly. Regarding your interactions with our staff, we believe that Karen was simply trying to gather additional information, but unfortunately, the conversation became unproductive. Your comments in the review, including referring to our staff inappropriately, reflect a lack of professionalism on your part. .We feel it is important to inform you that we will be forwarding this matter to Volkswagen so they can be aware of your conduct, especially since this occurred on a holiday. Our staff attempted to assist you as an adult, but we had to ask you to leave because you acted like a child.

Consumer response

No one EVER said it was serviced. No one EVER said anything about recommendations from other shops. I did NOT say I needed a shifter. IF she was trying to gather information why did the service manager come back immediately after she said "let me see what's going on" AS I NOTED in my review. You are making things up as you always do in all your review responses to deflect and not take any responsibility WITHOUT addressing anything I wrote. It is undebatable. Feel free to forward this matter to VW. I invite it. I have been a VW for over 20 years and have ben a stellar customer with other dealerships and we have had a wonderful relationship. I will ALSO be reporting you to VW and your dealership superiors. I wrote NOTHING that is unprofessional. It is all matter of fact. You seem to not be able to get out of your own way of being emotional.

If you're looking for a new car, you have to go see Vildan! I just bought a brand new Volkswagen Atlas from her, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. From the moment I stepped onto the lot, Vildan was welcoming and made me feel completely at ease. She was incredibly knowledgeable about all the features of the Atlas and patiently answered all my questions without any pressure. The entire process was smooth, transparent, and even enjoyable. Vildan worked hard to find me the perfect car. She's a true professional who genuinely cares about her customers. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a stress-free car-buying experience.

The absolute worst service is located at Platinum Volkswagen in Hicksville NY. The dash screen in my vehicle was lighting up like the 4th of July I took it to Platinum Volkswagen because I was told but Volkswagen that they had certified technicians at this location. I the rude service person Karen Palacio would not allow me to complete my statement, and told me that she would do the diagnostic test and tell me what’s wrong with the vehicle. I dropped off my vehicle at 8am she sent me a test saying that another dealership probably just didn’t want to take care of my vehicle. Then she sent another text saying she’s going to lunch and when she gets back she will let me know what’s wrong. Then she said one hour before closing nothing is wrong come pick up the vehicle. I attempted to call and she sent me text messages while I’m calling the receptionist said she was with another client. Yet she’s texting me telling me there is something wrong with my vehicle. So I called again and the receptionist said she had left for the day. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told no so I told the receptionist I would pick up my car in the morning. So I picked up my car the following morning hoping to gain clarity from the supervisor who raised his voice and was completely unprofessional. I’ve never had this experience from a Volkswagen dealership… Platinum “fools gold experience” because that’s the level of service they are offering.

Dealer response

Obviously, this is not how the interaction took place. Our service manager makes every effort to work with all customers unless their behavior becomes disrespectful. Based on your review, it seems you were asked to leave due to your conduct. You may find that a more respectful approach leads to a better outcome. It may also be best to return to your selling dealer, as they may be able to provide the experience you’re looking for.

Dealer response

You were told to take your car and not come back because of your behavior, now you’re just embarrassing yourself on the internet.

Dealer response

It goes even further than what you’ve claimed. You were never a customer of Platinum VW, you had already been to two other dealerships before even attempting to come here. From the very start, your attitude was confrontational, even while just trying to make an appointment, as if you believed you deserved special treatment above every other Volkswagen owner. You insisted you had a battery issue, which you did not, and because of your prior dealership history combined with your behavior, we declined to service your vehicle. You even escalated the matter to Volkswagen Corporate, and after hearing both sides, they sided with us, the dealer, not you. In fact, your case was closed immediately once our explanation was provided.

Dealer response

Weird, why didn’t the first dealership fix it? Why did you need to go to a second dealership, and then to Platinum, if the others were supposedly able to fix your car? And what does your battery have to do with the A/C? That dealership isn’t even a certified battery repair facility, so they don’t have the proper knowledge or training required to repair EVs.

Consumer response

I was never asked to leave, I simply tried to explain what was going on with my car and keep getting cut off im not one for unprofessional exchanges. So I politely asked for my vehicle and Steven Fox walked out the side door did not hold it for me and you don’t have handicap accessible doors. Steven Fox drove my vehicle into the middle of the street obstructing the normal flow of traffic left my driver side car door open knowing that I was on crutches and it would take me a while to hobble down the sloped driveway to retrieve my vehicle.

Consumer response

This is your attempt to save face with the public by use of micro aggressions. I’ve done nothing but share my experience of what transpired. Steven Fox and Karen Palacio are completely under qualified for the service position at a Volkswagen dealership. I understand I’m a Melanated American and the perception is that you must get loud and yell over us when you see us so you can point the finger at us. But I do not condone or entertain any of those actions. People like Karen Palacio and Steven Fox who act like that i simply don’t engage. I let you do what you do because there is always a video to go along with it. Which is why I asked for my vehicle when Steven Fox got loud and I hobbled out of the non handicap accessible doors which was difficult to hold and get through in my current handicap state. It’s sad you don’t want to start training the staff to just do a better job.

Consumer response

Im not sure what you are talking about but I have a AC issue which is directly related to the battery issue. I only went to one other Volkswagen location that didn’t yet have their certification for the work , but now that they do they called me to find out if I was still in need of assistance and I’ll be going back there because their professionalism is above and beyond for all customers.

Consumer response

I’ll let corporate know we are having this very public exchange, that speaks volumes to the type of customer care you provide. No need to feel embarrassed. Just ask for more training, it’s available for your store.

Consumer response

I went to a dealership on Long Island their tech didn’t yet have his certification. I was told I would have to wait one week before I can get the car fixed because that’s when the tech would have his certification by. They asked if I needed the car sooner than that and that they could call around and find a dealership that has a certified tech, which is how I ended up at Platinum. However, Platinum was a terrible experience and when I try to speak with a supervisor on the unprofessional text messages, I was receiving about Meal breaks , and that the other dealership is incompetent. I decided to pull my car out of there because I actually trust the other dealership and I’ll just wait for the other dealership to get their certification before returning my vehicle to them for repairs. You are trying to make it seem like I went all over the world but I only went to one dealership who referred to this dealership. Now that the other dealership has a certified Tech I’ll be going back there.

Stephen Fox and Karen Palacio are extremely unprofessional. They need retraining in customer service. my concerns for my vehicle will not heard but due to the lack of respect of me trying to explain Karen and Steve continuously cutting me off. They did not keep me updated as to when my car would be serviced or how it would be service so what was wrong with it. And then I called yesterday one hour prior to closing, and they continuously refuse to call me back or answer the phone when I called. Instead, Karen Palacio Decided that it was OK to badmouth Huntington Volkswagen via text message to me. I’m a customer it should not be in anyone’s beef against any major corporation that they work under. I should not be receiving text messages about an employee who is on lunch and that’s why they can’t get to my vehicle.

Very valuable Volkswagen repair service car owners I have a 2021 VW ID4 electric car. I bought it with 2500 miles on it and I took the car to the service more than six times. The car's electric motor was not making any noise at 56th Street Brooklyn. They replaced a part for $1600. We said okay, okay. A few days later another light came on. I went to Brooklyn Volkswagen again and they checked and said there was a small battery in the electric car. They said it was not working and replaced it three days later, the same light. The electric system was not working. It came on again at Brooklyn Volkswagen. I brought it in and they ran diagnostics, this time it was a high power battery. They said my car had 45,000 miles and they said they couldn't do it for me. They said they didn't have an electrical engineer and told me to go to Bayridge Volkswagen. I went and bought a Radovi first and went 10 days later. They said they couldn't do it for me and said to go to Long Island Platinum Volkswagen. I called and made an appointment and went two weeks later. Okay, they looked at it and made a check and then charged me $259.00. I asked why they weren't changing the batteries. They told me my car had a TLC plate, but the warranty was 50,000 miles. That's how many TLC plate cars have. Did you see the miles on the car? Why didn't you tell me? Platinum Volkswagen lied. But why did you say 100,000 miles when you bought the warranty? You say 8 years. I bought the warranty and paid $2600.00 extra. Is this possible? Why didn't you tell me? I said I would put a TLC plate when I bought the car. Brooklyn Volkswagen is hostile to me here. Since you don't understand, why did you change the small batteries in the electric car? They made me waste my time. Bayridge Volkswagen spoke honestly. The name was edi. A nice mechanic will help me now. I'm looking for a lawyer from Volkswagen USA. Thanks for making a secret.
