My experience was very pleasant. I dealt with Will who was both professional and personable. He knew I was in a bit of a rush and did everything necessary to expedite the process.

Night and day from the other car dealerships nearby. Straightforward pricing, no swindling, no sweating you out, no fees out of nowhere. Good vibes; the people working there clearly sleep well with a clean conscious. Bonnie walked me through the process step by step. Every process is explained clearly, recommendations given to help with your research, and no fees added on that don’t bring value to you. I’d honestly trust her to sell a car to my mother. I can’t recommend her enough. She’s also a super effective salesman because she can clearly explain what the cost is for and why it’s valuable to you. Everyone there was friendly and competent: Xavier who helped with the downpayment; Ray and Boyce, managers helping with paperwork; Beyjan who shed some light on the normal car buying process; the technicians — everyone.

They were responsive and easy to deal with. Dak handled things and made it easy for us. I’m sorry I don’t remember his associate in training, but she was also great.

So I love the car, and I appreciated the fellow helping me that day when I was looking, I believe his name was Ashton. He suggested this Honda Pilot, I instantly loved it. The only thing I noticed that I wanted to bring up was this subtle jerking whenever I was gently accelerating. So I brought it up to him in case it was something they needed to check out or some sort of problem. He confidently assured me that there was no problem with it, it may just be that I'm not used to the feel of this car, since my last car was a Ford Explorer. I believe him, mostly because it didn't feel like any car problem I've felt before. Time goes on, it persists, but does not worsen for about 4 months. I eventually am in need of an oil change and I figured this was a good chance for someone to check out that jerking just cause I'm curious about it and it's still happening, in fact it's feeling a little more noticeable now. Wouldn't you know it, it's the transmission... I was shocked because I've dealt with transmissions going bad before and it was never something this subtle and slow developing, it was always a sudden failure of the engine and ability to drive, etc. And sure enough, ironically, it is now fully broken down, waiting to be repaired. But anyway, the shop I'm at tells me this, I call CarMax because I made this appointment through Repair Pal and I'm confused and need answers, the helpful woman, Sydney, on the phone asked if I brought the car in during the 3 month fully covered warranty about the jerking, and I gave her the whole story of how; no I did not, because I was TOLD it wasn't a problem I should be concerned about, and it did not change within those 3 months, and yet now I need a new transmission! She assures me the warranty that's still active will cover almost all of the cost, so at least there's that, but I am so frustrated. I was sold a car that (to someone who probably knows what they're talking about, for example a mechanic or one of CarMax's techs) clearly had transmission issues, and it was not presented, it was not written down anywhere like the fuel pump recall was, no one told me. So either someone lied to me, someone didn't do their job right, or someone doesn't know what they're doing, all of which are concerning. And frankly, I shouldn't even be paying the deductible that I am for this given the whole situation. Needless to say I'm beyond pissed.

The first time we looked at my future vehicle the employee was awesome! Friendly, kind & efficient. When we went to pick up the Volvo the young man who helped us was the exact opposite. I actually considered not purchasing the car based on him. I wish I had walked out then. I have had the car for 3 months and have had nothing but issues. It has been to the shop several times and this last time was told “I was sold a lemon” the whole engine needs to be replaced. I literally have only made 3 payments on the car. We contacted car max…have yet to speak with “Larry” the manager. I will update with the outcome but as it stands I have a 18,000 loan on a car that I will have to tow out of my driveway.
