DO NOT BUY A HYBRID!!! IF YOU HAVE ONE TRUST THE INTERNET, NOT THE DEALER TO FIX IT! I have a 2006 Hybrid escape and no one can fix it. The ABS light... would come on along with the service engnie soon light. The breaks would kick into manual (making you stand on them to stop the car) and the hybrid charging system would disengage (because it is charged by the ABS system). I brought it to Sanderson. First of all, they don't stock hybrid parts so plan on a rental car for 4-7 days while parts come in. To fix the breaks I was told I needed to replace the hybrid cooling fan, $800. They told me the service engine light meant the hybrid battery was overheatng and this was causing the ABS system to malfunction. I picked up the car and drove 4 blocks when the breaks went out again. I had it towed back. This time the head mechanic looked at it and told me how much it scared him when the breaks suddenly went out during his test drive (welcome to my world). So now I am told I need the ABS computer and master cylinder replaced. My extended warranty company agreed to replace only the master cylinder (a cost of $400 for me plus another week of car rental waiting for the part). I was concerned because Sanderson said both the ABS computer and master cylinder needed to be replaced but Sanderson assured me it is impossible to separate the parts so the extended warranty company must be sending the complete unit. Guess what, only the master cylinder came. It was replaced. That repair lasted less than 60 days and again no brakes. Once again returned and now it was a ground wire repair ($250 of which they discounted $100 for my trouble). That repair actually did the trick. (too bad they took out a factory master cylinder that was working to replace it with the remanufactured part bought by the warranty company). About a month later the service soon light came back on. This time I went to the internet to look for the cause. Apparently this is a sign the hybrid battery is overheating. However, the cause is usually not the hybrid cooling fan (that was already replaced) but a $9 air filter (which was never checked by Sanderson). My advice, verify everything, If they say the fan does not work, make them start up the car and show you. Search the internet first. I found both the ground wire and air filter repair on ford hybrid chat rooms. If I had started, there the $1200 in repairs + 3 weeks of rental cars would have cost $250 (ground wire) and $9 for the air filter.
This is my second purchase from Sanderson Ford and i will never go buy from another dealership as long as they are in the bussines. Florin Nichitean is... one of a kind sales guy, he is not pushing you , he goes over every detail that you need to know before making the decision. He is the best sells man i ever had to deal with. I will strongly suggest him as your next sales rep. Sanderson Ford is a family dealership by far the best in town. I never went into a dealership and had to deal with so many friendly people and kind like at Sanderson Ford.. If anyone needs a car i suggest you go to his dealership and see Florin because you will leave with a great smille over your face and a great offer. The overall experience was great. The selection of new vehicles was adequate, the salesperson (Brian) was more than patient answering all our questions... and worked to get the best deal for us. As a Marine veteran I really appreciate Sanderson's support of the military personal and their families. Paperwork took to long.
