After an investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Tesla is following through on addressing an issue with the center display for owners of roughly 135,000 Model S sedans and Model X SUVs.

The 2021 Tesla Model S and Model X get interior refreshes that include a steering wheel with a truncated trim as well as the absence of some key equipment, like a gear selector.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has asked Tesla to issue a recall for media control units in more than 158,000 model-year 2012-18 Model S sedans and 2016-18 Model X SUVs.
