Great SUV and underrated against its competition

The Honda Pilot w/ Elite trim has all the bells and whistles you could ask for. Also in this trim line includes 2nd row captians chairs which make the interior feel extra roomy. Unlike other SUVs in this class, the pilot has a spacious third row seat due to its larger size compared to its competitors (i.e. kia sorento, toyota highlander). The cost is higher than competition but I beleive the larger size makes it worthwhile.

Laura Grantham

I am a repeat Pilot owner. Our first Pilot was a 2005, with seating for 8 it was the perfect fit for our family of 5. It allowed each kid to always have a friend. I have owned a Buick Enclave and Toyota Highlander in between our first Pilot. The new design, safety features, value and of course reliability brought us back to Honda.

Pilot Perfection

This new Pilot is exactly what we were looking for. It has all the bells and whistles. Apple Play is awsome! The Garmin navigation system is fantastic and it is satellite controlled so we never have to upgrade! The automatic"safe following distance" cruise control has really proven to be very helpful on the highway. The camera on the right rearview mirror is very useful. We love everything about this car. The ride is so smooth and there is less road noise than we had with our last two Odysseys. We think it is the most handsome SUV on the market.

Good Quality

The quality of the Honda is so much better than the Ford Explorer I had previously! It will also tow 6.000 lbs and that was important to me! The fuel economy is good and it has good power!

Overall good vehicle, with some annoying items

Overall, I am happy with the 2017 Honda Pilot Touring, and would recommend. However, because of some of the items noted below, I am not able to give a rating higher than 3 stars. I really wanted to purchase the EX-L trim with V6. But ending up purchasing the Touring trim. With respect to the EX-L trim. Why is Honda forcing the consumer to select between one of: Honda Sense, navigation, or rear entertainment? These three options can not be combined on the EX-L. A Honda salesman tried to convince me that built-in navigation is no longer necessary with addition of Andriod Auto and Apple CarPlay. If you have ever traveled to rural areas without cellphone data coverage, you'll understand the need for built-in navigation. The 'Honda Lane Watch'. If this is such a great feature, why doesn't the Elite have two cameras (both driver and passenger sides)? Instead, the Elite adds real 'Blind Spot' detection feature. I would much rather have the blind spot detection with large illuminated icon on the side mirrors, instead of the 'Honda Lane Watch'. If the majority of your turns are in the right lane, you will quickly understand the annoyance (don't need to see grass or sidewalk). An illuminated icon on the side mirror is quick for the driver to process. Whereas, the "Honda Lane Watch" requires the driver to remove their eyes from the road, and look at the in dash monitor to determine if there is a car in the lane. The main point of safety features is to help the driver focus on the road. Which "Honda Lane Watch" doesn't, because you have to watch live video feed and make decision. The Touring and Elite has 'Engine Stop' feature. The Honda Pilot isn't a hybrid like Toyota Prius, so not sure why Honda engineers felt this feature was necessary. Really annoying in stop-and-go city traffic. When you come to a complete stop, the engine shuts down. There is capability to disable 'Engine Stop', but must be disabled each time you start the car. In 2017, a lot of manufactures offer the motion activated rear lift gate. This should be included at the Touring and Elite trims. If you don't care about connectivity (Andriod Auto or Apple CarPlay), go with model year 2016. It is the exact same as 2017, without connectivity. I can confirm what has been said in other reviews: the active safety features are overly sensitive, and shifting is rough at low speeds.

2017 Honda Pilot Elite

The cabin is beautiful. It feels like a $100k luxury SUV inside. The technology is amazing. Safety features are top notch. It is a great vehicle when you have a bunch of kids but you don't want a minivan or a bus (suburban and the giant SUVs).

My first "new" car and I love it!

After a car accident, I was forced into the new car market. I knew I didn't want another mini van but I needed more than a 5 seater. After months of looking, my husband and I decided on the Honda Pilot as our family car. We got the EX-L with sensing. (You will love the sensing!!) I am so happy with this car I can't begin to tell you. I'm getting about 21 - 22 miles per gallon city which is better than my mini van and I love the interior lay out. We added running boards because I am 5' 6" ish and I found myself climbing in and sliding out of the car. The running boards have helped a lot. (My hubby installed them in about 2hours and we got them from amazon.) Happy car searching. So glad I decided on the pilot. My favorite thing is the talk to text feature with apple car play. My only con is that the side mirrors do not defrost. I'm sure this is an option with the higher trim models. I can also feel the transmission when it drops into its lowest gear but it doesn't really bother me. I am super happy with my purchase.
