i really enjoy the Outback

this auto meets my needs: it is inexpensive to operate; it is highly reliable; it is comfortable; it handles relatively well; It is great in snow; it has plenty of room for baggage; and, it has a great sound system. I love the eyesight.

Amazingly quiet

The Outback is very quite and provides a smooth ride. We got the Eyesight option and are glad we did. The alert when you?re crossing lanes without a turn signal is a very nice safety feature and the ?blind spot? alerts are as well.

Super happy with my new Outback!

I love this car! I was originally going to buy a used Outback but they really don't depreciate and people don't seem to like to give them up! In the end, buying new seemed like the smartest and best choice. I am so happy I decided to buy it. It is perfect for heading to the mountains or the beach and for traveling to the Bay Area.

My first Subaru and first 4 cyl in 40 years

I have driven a 4X4 since 1978 and wanted at least an AWD. Subaru had the reputation, so I test drove a 6 cyl and a 4 cyl. While the 6 has more power, I found the 4 to be plenty adequate for my needs. I like it so much I bought a premium 2018 model and so far I have no regrets. My only criticism is there isn't enough little nooks and such to store "stuff"... like small compartments in or on the dash for those miscellaneous things we all seem to accumulate and carry around.

Safety First with Comfort

I was amazed how quite the interior is while driving, great cargo room and very comfortable seating for 4 adults. Love the Subaru Eyesight coupled the other safety features the car just feels safe. Handles great nice ride quality and tight turning radius completes the package. Glad I purchased this car.

The car is solid and deserves five stars but...

The radio coming on when I start or stop the engine drives me crazy. I can control every aspect of my driving experience but whether or not the radio comes on? Really Subaru, really? Also the nav system software badly needs an update. My two year old street is not there. When I'm home it's unknown territory as far as the car is concerned. These are my only quibbles about the car with which I trust my family's wellbeing.

I had to replace my 2010 Outback

When I had to replace my previous Outback, I didn't think twice about buying any other vehicle. The new features are quite amazing! I was never particularly attached to any car until I bought my 2010 model.

As Expected

We have enjoyed our 2013, 2015 and now the 2018. Small but useful improvements with each year. Keep it up Subaru, your fan base is growing with each year.

Consumer electronics are buggy and poorly designed

I've owned great Subaru's for decades, but this new one is a disaster! Mechanically, this is a great machine. However, the consumer electronics (navigation, entertainment, communications, etc.) are overly complex, difficult to learn, and full of bugs (in my opinion). The 2018 Outback is the first model to have Subaru's new consumer electronics package, and I think they just rushed it to market. It has so many bells and whistles that it's almost impossible to learn everything. Why do they need THREE music services (SiriusXM, Pandora, Aha) on top of the radio, CD player, and everything that you can access from your Smart Phone when it is tethered to the console? I'm a retired software developer and computer nerd, but after several hours of tutoring from the dealer's Delivery Specialist (i.e., trainer), many hours reading the fine print in the manuals, and days of hands-on experience, I still don't know how to use more than a few basic features. There isn't room here to enumerate all the little quirks and bugs, but I recommend that anyone interested in an Outback wait another year or so until the consumer electronics "mature". On the other hand, the older safety systems work well. The EyeSight system, which implements the adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, pre-collision braking, etc., has definitely helped me to drive more safely. The blind spot detection system and backup camera are also very helpful. And Subaru's All Wheel Drive system has always been my favorite feature.
