This my 8th and best yet
My Subaru was a 1984 GL wagon, fell in love with Subarus then and still continues. Recently traded a 2017 Limited 3.6R in on a 2020 Touring XT. At first was leery of the turbo vs 6 cylinder but like it now. What Subaru did with the styling especially the interior is fantastic! Mow when you get one of the upper line Outbacks it does seem luxurious. The safety features are top notch, this my 3rd Outback with Eyesight (my first being a 2013) it keeps getting better and better.

It's unbelievable, perfect in every way possible.
0nyx xt I love it. I was a salesman and mgr. at several Subaru dealerships also a service writer so I have a good background with them. They are the best you can buy and this new Outback is phenomenal.

Almost perfect!
I love it. I shopped carefully and knew what I wanted... reliable, value, features, etc. I got just what I wanted from a GREAT dealer (Dewey Griffin in Bellingham). My only issues are with the electronics/computer and they are minor... the auto-shut-off feature and display options.

Impressive interior
Purchased 2020 Outback Touring XT and love it. The interior is spectacular, the seats are very comfortable and the nappa leather is beautiful. The 11.6” screen is reasonably responsive and the system has multiple settings which are extremely useful. The sound system is wonderful. The turbo engine and cvt are perfect for this wagon. The body reflects the Ouback’s heritage and is beautiful as well. On the negative side, the auto start/stop is seriously annoying and requires several steps to disable. A simple switch would be a better solution. There is very limited storage in front and the center console is very small. The cargo area, even with the rear seats up, is generous. The spare is mounted with the valve stem down, requiring the tire to be removed to check pressure.

Outback or Forester? Both are versatile vehicles.
I've been in a Forester for a long time and had a tough decision this time around. In a few words the Forester is more utilatarian and slightly more open inside the cabin vs the Outback which offers more comfort and style. Here's why I tried the Outback this time. Living in New England I've found moonroofs a waste of money (too noisy and hot to open up in the summer and totally useless the rest of the year). I wanted the winter package (heated seats, mirrors etc.), so I would have needed to get a Premium model or higher in the Forester which meant the moonroof as standard feature. The Outback Premium models were available without the moonroof and have the winter package. Additionally it comes with a roof rack with cross rails integrated into the system. The Outback has the 3" longer wheelbase for a smoother ride. I picked up 6" in storage length with the back seats down, although square footage in the back is about the same since the Forester's back gate opening is about 2" higher. For my needs the slightly longer space works well. Otherwise - same engine and ground clearance for both models. The Outback has a higher towing capacity I might add as I'll be adding a hitch. Pricing was close to a wash when I considered the options that I really wanted. To me picking between two Subaru's was the only decision I needed to make as we're a Subaru family and have been for a long time. The recent Forester lasted 12+ years and was still running well - I felt it was time to buy new and leave the rebuild to someone else. So it's not a sportscar but I wanted reliability and value first and foremost which the Outback delivers every day within a nice matrix of other features. I use vehicle to "get around" in New England especially with the snow and crazy weather we get. Incidently the AWD Subaru SUVS make great beach "buggies" by just letting tire air pressure down to 20-22psi . We've used Foresters, Outbacks and even my daughter's new Ascent on the beaches of North Carolina (where allowed via permit) with never a problem. You might get a strange stare or two from the big off roaders with ground clearances you can almost drive under but more likely you'll have a laugh or two when you see one of them stuck up to their truck beds in sand.

Good Mechanics _ Very Bad Infotainment on Limited
My 2020 Outback rides and drives like a dream, But..... Infotainment system software was never completed by whoever Subaru outsourced. Just checked at the dealer, no software updates available at this time. Bluetooth phone connection is hit or miss - never an issue on any previous car and same issues for any phone type tried/used. Mostly it works, very often it doesn't. Phone links, but about 10% of time only takes incoming calls initially, then you can then make an outgoing call afterwards. Hard to show dealer the issue unless you happen to be near one with problem but they like you to schedule service. Sometimes phone is 'Initializing' indefinitely so completely useless for entire trip until you shut down car and restart. Start_Stop disengage is a couple of pages into menu instead of a simple switch. Annoying for such a useless feature that can be a Safety issue when you have to pull out in heavy traffic. Has to be reset every time you start car. Seat heater is also by touch screen menu paging even though there is already a heater icon on the main screen that should do what you have to page to from there. Apple Car play works for about 10 min and then stops. Immediately switched to passenger phone, it worked and then it stopped also after 10 min. Hand held phone after that. Big 11" display isn't fully utilized. ex: when Apple Car Play functions for at least a little while, a very small portion of the screen displays the map, about the same size as a phone _ why? Lane departure warning has helped a lot when I swerve into lanes next to me trying to find simple controls (ex: fan, defrost, etc) which are touch screen and you often need to see/find what you are paging through. Infotainment system is unsafe as is - way to distracting - worse than on any other vehicle I have driven. I do not recommend this vehicle until a refresh in a couple of years and infotainment system is totally revamped. Needs at least some buttons to help with needless distractions. Flawed electrons design that had to have been very apparent to Subaru well before release.

Touring model better than my Limited.
So much better. Seems bigger, drives smoother. It doesn’t have that annoying lurch in acceleration that my Limited model had since Day 1. I love all the features that the Eyesight package brings (an option on my Limited). My only complaint is that I had to buy a new tow hitch for my bike rack.(800.00 part/labor). It doesn’t fit due to the new remodeled 2020 Outback.

Hidden Bargain
The 2020 Subaru Outback Touring XT is the top of the line Outback. Features include sound deadening glass, front view camera, turbo engine, all wheel drive, and a plethora of safety and convenience features. So far, no issues with any of the car's features. Ride comfort is tops and the four cylinder turbo engine is smooth, quiet, and powerful. I keep a car for many years and we'll see how this one performs over time.

New owner
This vehicle had all the amenities I was looking for and was in stock. We test drove our outback and purchased it that night. Our salesman Charlie was great, he went over all my questions and concerns, took his time explaining a lot of the technologies of the outback and finished the deal so we wouldn't have to come back in the morning.
