Vehicle Overview

The Vanquish name returns to the Aston Martin lineup for 2014 as the replacement for the DBS. Branded the “ultimate grand tourer,” the all-new Vanquish is powered by a 6.0-liter V-12 engine that makes 565 horsepower.  The exterior makes extensive use of carbon fiber and shares similar bits from the limited-production One-77 supercar. Competitors include other high-performance sports cars like the Lamborghini Aventador and Ferrari F12berlinetta.

Exterior
Engineers at Aston Martin incorporated many styling cues from the One-77 when designing the new Vanquish, the most noticeable being LED “light blade” taillamps. The body consists of a mix of lightweight carbon fiber, aluminum and magnesium alloy. Exterior features include:

  • Bi-xenon headlamps
  • LED taillamps
  • 20-inch wheels
  • Available black grille trim
  • Available exposed carbon fiber trim pieces

Interior
Themes of luxury, exclusivity and high-performance are present in the new Vanquish’s cabin. There’s leather upholstery and an Alcantara headliner, as well as a Bang & Olufsen stereo. There are numerous opportunities for buyers to customize the cabin, heated front seats and a Garmin-based navigation system are standard. Interior features include:

  • Seating for two or four
  • Satellite radio, Bluetooth streaming audio and iPod connectivity
  • Touch-sensitive glass buttons in the middle of the dashboard
  • Available ventilated seats

Under the Hood
The rear-wheel-drive Vanquish features a 6.0-liter V-12 paired with a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine makes 565 hp and 457 pounds-feet of torque. Aston Martin claims the Vanquish will go from zero-to-62 mph in 4.1 seconds and reach a top speed of 183 mph. Mechanical features include:

  • Limited-slip differential
  • Three-stage adjustable suspension with Normal, Sport and Track driving modes
  • Carbon-ceramic front and rear brake discs
  • Launch control

Safety
Safety features include:

  • Antilock brakes with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist
  • Electronic stability system with Track mode
  • Traction control
  • Side-impact airbags
  • Side curtain airbags
  • Available backup camera

  • Wonderful example of a classic supercar!

Owning an Aston Martin Vanquish was a dream I never thought would come true - but here I am driving around much like James Bond with a 6.0l, 565hp naturally-aspirated v12 engine and looks to kill! The Vanquish is the perfect blend of power, performance, and beauty, and I truly believe it has a soul. There's plenty of power on demand, then handling is crisp, and the ride is stiff but not bone-jarringly so. I have owned this car for 7 months now and have not had a single issue with it - it's held up perfectly mechanically, and turns heads everywhere we go. My only real negative is the transmission - it's a bit long geared, and while not sluggish to shift, certainly isn't as snappy as the newer models. But if you're buying this car as a racer, you're looking at the wrong car. This is a wonderful Grand Tourer, with the right amount of spunk to run up mountain roads and provide you with plenty of excitement! If you've been looking for that next-level experience, this is it!
