2001 Audi A6 consumer reviews

I bought this 2001 in 07 with 57,000 miles. I love everything about this car with one exception. The air suspension makes the car very expensive to own. With 60,000 miles the front air bag started to leak. I spent $4000 replacing the two air bags and compressor. Eight months later the front bags started to leak again. I had gone beyond the 12,000 mile warranty period. The dealer offered to discount the $2000 repair estimate $300!!! Audi of America was no help. My porsche is far less to maintain than this car. I think that this disgraceful! The car has great potential but this ruins it.

I have been driving one for the last 2 years, it has been one great car to drive. Only thing that i dont like about the car is the maintenance cost, it costs much more than a Honda or a Toyota.. But it is an Audi and it is not fair to compare the maintenance with a Honda car.. SO, this one is worth the money...

i got this car and the first thing that went though my mind was WOW it drives like an avalon and runs like a covett 200 hp but feels like 225 4x4 so i never get stuck and snow? what snow u would never know u were driving though it!!!! LOVE IT

One of the classiest cars out there... The A6 was one of the first Audis I owned. To say that this car can withstand the test of time is an understatement. After 6 years of ownership, to this day, it not only looks as good as new...but the performance is still in tip-top shape.

As one of the previous people mentioned: there is always something to fix. Valve cover gaskets and cam adjuster seals at 46000. Whole control arm set at 60000. Converter at 55000 (under warranty) and now at 77000 it is leaking oil all over place again. Granted it looks good, handles OK, 2.8 engine little underpowered. Interior design good, sound system good (Bose). Feels luxurious. Quatro is great. But if you don't have extra car for when this one needs fixing don't buy it.

The car was in for warranty work all the time. It has lots of problems with engine oil leaks, so much so, that Audi instructed it's mechanics to ignore oil leaks unless they see them dripping all the way to the ground. Well mine dripped all right, but onto the exhaust manifold where it burnt up and filled the inside of the car with smoke. So it took over a year to get them to admit it. Numerous electrical failed, alternator failed, CV boots need replaced early, timing belt needs replaced early.

i would say that for this price, and this car, is a great deal, its a truly remarkable design by german engineers, A MUST BUY

This is one of the first Audi's that I have ever owned. I am amazed by the power that this car offers. When you stomp on the gas you find yourself exceeding legal limits without effort. I haven't hit the top speed (135) but I have topped 110 mph several times and the power just doesn't stop. The car handles great. It is a real pleasure to drive. I find myself making excuses just to go to the grocery store because the car is so much fun to drive. Once you drive and experience an Audi you will be hooked.

Car has been outstanding. Every day it is a pleasure to drive it. If my E- class Mercedes were 1/2 as reliable as this car it would be a step in the right direction.

Driving this car is a bit of a dissappointment from a performance standpoint, but the interior styling and intrument configurement are awesome! comfortable, smooth, seamless, luxury. No doubt when you get in you feel like your in an Audi until you hit the pedal. For more punch try this model with the larger engines or turbos.
