Bought the Allroad to replace a 2006 A6 Avant. With the demise of the big wagon in the US, and the A4 Avant being no longer available I wasn't sure the Allroad would meet the need, especially the drop to a 2 liter 4 cyclinder turbo. Need not have worried. The car is the usual high quality finish and fit from Audi, with what I still consider is the best interior control layout and comfort in its class. Performance is actually better than the 3.2 A6, with better gas mileage, and the smooth 8-speed means that you cruise at 80 at 2000 revs, with plenty left underfoot. Handling is tight, steering responsive. I like the slight raised up position. Audi did a good job on the external aesthetics, even if the "off road" bits really are just for show. For those looking for an alternative to mid-size SUV's, but wanting the Audi quality, the Allroad is a good choice. Now if only they would put a 3 liter TDI diesel in it - I'd buy another!

I purchased the '13 Allroad Premium in Jul '12 and have a little over 3000 miles and having fun driving it. The steering, brakes and ride are all very good. The 4 cylinder turbo engine is very responsive and surges away at all speeds. The 8 speed automatic transmission is very smooth. I'm still trying to figure out the numerous options. The folding seats opens up to a large cargo area. One of the most useful option is the indicator to warn the driver that a vehicle is in the blind spots on either side of the car. So far, this car is a keeper.

I love everything about it except getting in and out of the car. The doorway is very small and the post between the front and back doors is too far forward to comfortably get into the car. I almost wish I noticed it before I bought it, but I like it enough otherwise that I probably would have bought it anyway. Cruise control is in an awkward spot and could be misused as a blinker. Remote car starter would be nice, seeing that this car is designed for cold climates. As it is, you can't just reach in, to start the car and then go back in the house. You have to get in and put your foot on the brake to start it.

I bought the car to provide awd for trips to the snow and to have a fairly versatile vehicle for other uses. The awd is flawless and when other 4wd were floundering, I was passing them securely. The mileage is better than the EPA rating on the highway - we averaged 32 on recent highway trip of 400 miles. Very quiet, great handling, plenty of power and seamless shifts with no turbo lag. The MMI system is not all that intuitive but it is versatile, especially with the Audi Connect internet.

Best Audi I've ever owned

Bought the car in early August. Great looking car; excellent finish and 'fit' both inside and out. Well made. The handling and tracking of the car are also excellent, as is the braking. The last Audi I had was a 1984 turbo and it spent more time in the shop than it did on the road - or so it seemed. The motor power coupled with the 8 speed transmission has more than enough zip to it either from a standing start or when passing. And the gas mileage is very respectful. I can cruise at 100 Km and the 'clock' shows 1600 rpm! All-in-all, a great car and good value for the money. As a person who is reaching 80, this may very well be my last vehicle to drive but I couldn't have chosen a better one to end up with!

1st the looks: most audis hit the mark in this respect, the allroad particularly so. not an ugly angle to be had handling: very good for a slightly jacked up wagon fuel efficiency: AMAZING - can easily achieve 30mpg+ and at a pretty good clip too (75mph+). thanks in no small part to the 8spd transmission seats: a bit firm (germanic thing). you're going to want to get out and walk around every hour or so if your posterior operates anything like mine technology and MMI interface: COMPLEX, but reasonably intuitive. 1st car with NAV i have ever had and wow, is it handy when you're plying an unfamiliar route storage capacity: less than suv's but with a cargo box on top for those trips to the slopes, should be adequate passing power: just fine. stronger than you would expect from just over 200HP. do yourself a favour and compare to a q5, x3, etc
