1st BMW. Could not be happier!

Car has all the features you would want in an SUV with the exception of a touchscreen display. The display is rather small for a luxury car, however, it serves its purpose. Drives very smoothly even in ECO Pro mode which is currently giving close to 30 mpg.

Good car with know repairs

I own a 2013 X3 28i xdrive, this car is great in many ways but looks like BMW N20 engines have problems with Timing chains. This comes after 80K and I have recently changed it. Cost could be around $5k. Other than that, it is a an epic car with great pick up for a 4 cyc. Comfortable driving with out any back pain.

Attractive, roomy, fun...horribly unreliable

I purchased this X3 after having owned several 3 Series models that I thoroughly enjoyed and found solidly reliable. This X3 model is comfortable, roomy, nice-looking, and rather fun to drive. The size is perfect...spacious yet easy to maneuver. But wallets beware! If you do buy this car, get the extended warranty! I've replaced the brake rotors at 42k ($1600), hood latch and coolant expansion tank at 49k ($800). Now it's at 57k. Between a BMW mechanic and the dealership, they can't even agree on what's wrong with it, but it warns of a drivetrain malfunction and it sounds like a diesel. Dealer says eccentric shaft ($3500), mechanic says timing chain, chain guides, pulley, and oil pump chain ($5000). In other words, repair costs that could buy you a pretty decent Toyota beater. Beware!

Great machine!

I now have 104,000 miles on my 2013 X3 3.5 and it has been the best car I have ever owned. Other than the normal oil and filter, tire and brake pad / rotor replacement it has never had an issue. And still gets 28.6 MPG @ 78 MPH (in the summer). That is why I have ordered a new 2018 but will keep this car for my wife to replace her Audi.

Premium brand with some corners cut

Having owned previous years of the X3 most notably the inception year of 2004 and also 2008 and 2006 this updated body style 2013 shows off some great enhancements but some obvious corners cut. Some cheap plastic interior and inside the door sills where there used to be aluminum logo markers are now plastic. For someone not having owned previous models this might not even register. Don?t get me wrong some of the I drive interface and connected drive features are wonderful additions but the old school feel and comfort I think are missing. They?ve even made what you might think as ?standard? features optional like a backup camera despite still having a full screen navigation interface. Buying a new one I think there are better contenders for the price but if you can get a pre owned at a good price I think the cost to benefit balances out. If you can find a pre-2011 with good mileage I am still a fan of the old drive.
