Do not Buy
I wish I would have done my research before buying this car. It is a very bad driving car. The transmission has no power what so ever. The gas mileage is very poor. I am getting like 16mpg . I traded my Suzuki Forenza due to alot of issues I was having. But I must say besides the issues (transmission) I had with my Suzuki, it definately drove better than the Aveo. I only have had the Aveo for a month and plan on trading it in by the end of the year. I know I may lose a couple of thousand of dollars, but I dont care. If the saleperson at the dealer ship would have told me this was really a Daewoo car, I would have not purchased it. Of course he neglicted to share that info. Because of that , it makes me not want to go back when I decide to trade it in...Also, I know all cars will have good and bad reviews, but you will be lucky to find a good review for this car.. DO NOT BUY..I repeat....DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!

Fell Apart on itself
Sooooo didn't know this was a Daewoo, my parents bought it for me when I was 16 years old hoping it would make through college graduation, it skated by and died 2 months after my graduation. In year 6 years I owned it I have 5 flats while driving, I never even had a chance to just buy tires when they went bald it was always when I had an un-repairable flat on the side of the freeway in a skirt. In year 4 of my car I needed new brake rotors, in year 5 I needed a new hose in the engine, in year 5 my battery died and I had to buy a new one. The battery is a rare model that took my 3 stores to find and cost me $133. In year 6 my oil pump failed and destroyed my engine the repairs cost more than the worth of the car and at 60,000 miles I had to sell it to a mechanic for parts. It was a 2004 model, the gas mileage was pretty good. Its not very aerodynamic, it acts like a high profile car on a windy day. Basically it made it through college but now as a recent college grad in a terrible economy I am carless.

Great little car
For what it is, witch is a small economy car with great gas mileage, this has so far been a fantastic car. for a tiny car, it has the feel of a larger car. my Aveo5 handles great, is very sure footed on less than perfect road surfaces. reasonably quiet inside. gearing for the five speed could be better, first gear is too high, makes getting started off a little tricky until you get it figured out, but great on the highway. I am getting real world average gas mileage of 32.5 to 34 mpg, witch puts highway mileage above the 35 mpg it's rated for, and I'm not light on the gas pedal if you get my point. Again, this is a small econemy car. Anyone who wines that its too light etc. should have bought a larger car to begin with. I would recomend it to anyone who commutes and is simply looking for an overall nice ride, with great MPG. Wish I had gotten the cruise controll though...

No thanks...
Overall, it's not a terrible car. If you live in a place with generally good weather all year round, it's a decent car...but that's not me. Know upfront, this is the Chevy Daewoo...yes, Chevy apparently bought the car forged in a south Korean ghetto. First off, for an economy car, it burns through gas fast. That supposed 30-35 mpg is a lie. I'm lucky to get more than 20. This is not because it's new, i've talked to a few Aveo owners who own 2006-current models and this is their experience too. Second, it's too tall for it's light weight. Drive on an expressway and if you're next to a semi-truck, or if it's a windy day, you will start to involuntarily drift off to the next lane. You end up driving a sailboat on land. Buying good tires will go a long way, but will take you only so far. Third, due to the light weight, you slide everywhere in snow or rain. In the harsh winter (and again, I'm in Chicago, where it is currently blizzard-ing as I write), where it is no fun for anyone to drive, it's even worse with this car because it glides on the surface. I keep 150 lbs. of sand in the trunk to weigh it down. Again, good tires help, but take you only to a certain point. Lastly, the insurance rate is too high. I am accident free with a clean driving record, but the insurance is through the roof. If you do buy an Aveo, consider the hatchback. The premiums on that don't even come close to this one.
