Very decent vehicle. I drive a lot, Traveling salesman. So the car looks great and the interior is just as good looking. This car has plenty of power(v6) but I'm not crazy about the transmission. The car jerks in and out of gears. I bet the trans will be a problem with this car. Interior dasd goes dim all by it's self. The infotainment center looks and is great for the most part. The bad is that is seems to really act weired when hooked up to iphone. No matter what my ipod kick in even when I don't want it to, the volume goes up and down on it's own and now my phone is acting weird, very slow or even freezes. Over all the car is nice. But just the fact that it's new makes it nice. I just hope I don't have high dollar problems like electrical or trans.

Equinox

Left the chevy brand and regretted the decision. Had to go back and did with the Equinox. Glad I'm back as expectations are fully met.

Bet car I have ever owned

The only negative I have on this vehicle is the gas mileage. Even though I purchased the 6 cylinder it only averages around 21mpg.

Should be better

Have the base model and it is not bad on the equipment level-alloys, air con and cruise control-looks pretty but has some major annoying faults/design issues. The car is not comfortable. I am 6' 3" and whilst I fit in the car easily enough the seat is major league uncomfortable. I have done 50k miles since Sept 2010 and it has never felt right from the start and now gives me back ache-I have to use a padded seat back to be able to drive it at all. My wife will usually sleep whilst I drive but she cannot get comfortable in the passenger seat in this vehicle. The dash air vents are rubbish-poorly positioned and no good at cooling the whole car-to get enough air to the back seat you freeze in the front. The gearbox is poor-whilst changing up at slow acceleration sometimes the gear drops in with a clunk and jerk like it's about to break the 'box. I also suffer from engine stuttering whilst feathering the throttle in traffic-the delaer can't find this problem (of course) but it's there. I have had this problem on another car (Ford) and never resolved the issue either-using a better grade of fuel may help but then will cost more to run Gas mileage is nowhere near the stated 32mpg. I average 23-24 overall-the Eco button doesn't make much difference to that so I don't use it. Engine can sound like a tractor engine at start up and idle. On the plus side, it's roomy inside, especially for cargo with the rear bench seat pushed forward, nice to drive, suspension is comfy and the acceleration is acceptable. Service intervals are good-around 16k miles and it looks good. Wouldn't have another one though-looking to trade up to new Dodge Durrango after reading the reviews on here.

MY 2ND EQUINOX

MY FIRST ONE WAS DESTROYED IN AN ACCIDENT. BUT GIVEN THE WAY THIS CAR PREFORMED AND LIVED UP TO ITS REP, I KNEW I WANTED TO REPLACE IT WITH ANOTHER. IN THE ACCIDENT, IT WAS ROLLED OVER-5 AIRBAGS DEPLOYED INSTANLY AND THAT IS WHAT SAAVED MY WIFE AND I FROM ANY INJURY. THE PARAMEDICS WHERE AMAZED THAT WE WALKED AWAY FROM IT. THE CAR IS JUST AS COMFORTABE AND PLEASANT TO DRIVE AS OUR PREVIOUS TOWN AND COUNTRY. I GET ABOUT 31MPG AT A CONSTANT 70 ON LEVEL ROADS. CAN'T BEAT THAT.

OK vehicle, but you can get better for less

This is a nice car, but I think a bit overpriced considering you can get a CR-V for less. The equinox has available remote start and standard OnStar, which you can't get on a CR-V, and bluetooth which only comes on the CR-V's highest trim level, but if you can live without the tech gadgets, the CR-V is the way to go. The Equinox, while sporting a longer wheelbase and overall vehicle length, has 10% less cargo volume behind the rear seats than the CR-V does. The seats also don't fold completely flat and the rear headrests cannot be removed. Gas mileage is good for a small SUV (4 cyl FWD model), but don't expect to get the EPA estimated 32 MPG. I routinely exceed the highway mileage by a fairly wide margin on long trips for every other car I've driven, but with the Equinox, I barely averaged 30 MPG with a very light foot. Still impressive, but not what you might expect given the EPA estimates. The smaller rear windows impair visiblilty a little, but with properly adjusted sideviews, this issue is somewhat mitigated. Rear-view camera is a nice safety addition. Vehicle has already been in the shop once for the rear body panel popping out. Dealer said this happens frequently due to heat expansion - haven't heard of this before. This was repaired under warranty. We bought this vehicle because my wife was fixated on the 'gadgets'. I was leaning towards getting a CR-V, but she seems happy with the Equinox. Hopefully this vehicle holds up well for us.

Nice ride

Our Equinox oozes comfort, even with the modest LT package. We traded in an older Odyssey van. The interior is awesome, and the safety features are amazing. The rear seats don't fold flat though. I have more cargo room in my Vibe. Also, the 32 mpg is a big stretch. I get 22/25 with AWD. It's a nice ride though. Maybe a bit underpowered with the 4 cylinder, but without it I can't imagine the gas mileage. We think it's a keeper though.

A Great Looking, Comfortable, Very Practical Car.

For many years I've driven Silverados, Camaros and Corvettes, and I loved them, but I finally bought a practical car and I'm really loving it! In May I sold my 2008 Vette and my 2007 Silverado Ext. Cab, put a bunch of money back in the bank, and bought my Cardinal Red, 2011 Equinox. It's a 4 cyl, FWD, LTZ with a Sunroof, Nav and Rear seat entertainment system. I had the factory 17" aluminum wheels chromed, and bought some Lloyds mats for the front, center and rear cargo area, and it's done. I'm a big guy at 6'3" and 250lbs, and my son is over 6'5". Even with a sunroof, the interior has plenty of every kind of room, in the front OR back seats for either of us. The leather seats in the Equinox are of much better quality than those that were in my Vette, The Pioneer stereo system kicks A, and it has a great nav system, back up camera, parking assist, power tailgate, Onstar, Sirius/XM, a super quiet ride, and it's great for long road trips. If you want the best gas mileage from your Equinox you have to get it with the 4 cyl, FWD, and the 17" wheels. If you pretend you have a egg behind the gas peddle when your accelerating, and set the cruise control between 55 - 60 mph on a flat highway the car will get 32 mpg. At 65 - 70 mph it'll get 29 - 30 mpg, and at 75 mph you're going to get just over 27 mpg. Now if you drive your Equinox like you're use to driving a '08 Vette, you'll still get mixed mileage in the mid to high 20's. I haven't gotten less than a mixed 24.?? mpg, and I actually set the trip meter and do the math with each fill up. Those of you with the 18" or either set of the 19" wheels and tires will get less mpg and a worse ride. The weight difference between the stock 17" wheels and tires and the 18" and 19" wheel choices is drastic. With heavier wheels you'll burn more fuel to get the car rolling and use more brake to get it to stop, and with less side wall compliance on the tires your ride will be rougher too. The Equinox is a car so nice I'd buy it twice!

Great quality for the money!

I purchased my 4 cyl. FWD 2 months ago and I love it! The bluetooth package is a must! I got the base model and feel you get a lot for your money. I must say that I wish car companies would start building their crossovers/suv's with dog owner consumers in mind though. It would be nice to be able to buy a custom dog barrier for this car, but you have to resort to the cheap, tubular barriers. Since the back headrests do not adjust, that eliminates the only nice barrier that doesn't impose on the cargo space. Also, since the backseat adjusts, you have to buy the more expensive cargo mat to fit it, otherwise you have about 8" of space without a mat. Anyways, just wish it was more dog friendly. I am only averaging about 17.8 miles in the city, nothing like the 21 they proclaimed. To me that is fine since any other suv I would've been only getting around 15. I would recommend the rear view camera though as it is difficult to judge how much space you have in the back. I do agree also that the cup holders are placed too close to the gear shift. Also, there is no automatic up on the windows, just down. Overall though, great buy!

Worst Purchase Ever

We bought a brand New 2011 Equinox , about a week after we bought it, the trouble started. While changing gears it feels like a big jerk. Also when you put your foot on the gas it would not go right away. We have had it in and out of the shop and have found this is a problem with this vehicle. The engineers are aware of this but it takes a little bit to get the fix to the dealerships once they can figure out how to fix it.
