2011 Chevrolet Equinox consumer reviews

I like my Equinox mostly. I mainly decided on it because the claim for great gas mileage. I have had it for only 2 months but so far haven't averaged the EPA yet. So I am a bit disappointed. I hope it turns out to be mechanically reliable in the long run.

The only thing that I REALLY REALLY HATE about my 2011 Chevy Equinox is the air circulation the vents are positioned arwardly and people in the back are unable to feel the air. Its a shame had to buy a portable fan from walmart that attaches to the front head rest just to get air in the back SHAME ! ! SHAME! Other than that I love my new Baby.... Just put vents in the back. Thank you

So far I still love mine and would recommend it to anyone. The only things I don't like are little nit picky things. Like the headrest should be shaped differently. It feels weird that the lock and unlock button isn't on the door. The rear view camera is pretty neat and also very needed as the back window is kind of small. Overall I love the way it drives and looks. Overall it's comfortable. I get alot of comments on it, people asking about it. I love it.

There is absolutely nothing that I don't love about my new Equinox. I spent the last year researching what car I wanted, and I went from a Honda to a Chevy just so I could get the Equinox. She is beautiful inside and out. Even when I compare more expensive models on the road, nothing compares in my book! My favorites are the exterior styling and chrome package, and the interior black leather with red stitching - very stylish. Very smooth and quiet ride.

Pros Legroom is excellent, being 6' 3", first small SUV that I actually fit in. Styling is very modern. Considered an Escape, but they looked like they were designed in 2000. Plus no leg room. Love the ride and the electric assist steering is great once you get used to it. Road and engine noise is low for a 4 cyl. 5 yr/100K powertrain warranty is a plus. Steering wheel controls are very nice. Lots of standard features, but I stepped up to the LT mainly for looks. Cons A bit over priced compared to other small SUV's. Transmission could use some refinements. Shifting at slow speeds is sometimes hard, especially when slowing down. So far the gas mileage is not up to what Chevy states. I drive mostly highways and I'm only getting about 26 MPG. I think the ECO button is pretty much useless. Could use vents for the rear passengers. Placement of the door unlock button is horrible.

I drive over 2000 miles a month. I find the car great for a smooth drive that is very sound proof to road noise. Love that I do not like the driver seat very hard my right leg and back has been hurting since I bought the car 30 day ago never had that problem before. The brake pedal is high from the gas pedel. I don't like that. It also hard to see out of the back window to back up and change lanes.

Bought the Equinox LTZ 4 Cyl AWD with 18 inch rims. Averaging 24 MPG. Driving a mix of stop and go commute (45 min each way), highway and city. Every car has blind spots, if you learn to use your mirrors while changing lanes, this minor issue becomes irrelevant. Also found that if you want to turn your head and rear end someone, it helps to lower your seat position. The navigation and control panel are a bit of a reach. That being said, I am loving my Equinox and can't honestly say that there are any real cons that would apply to the masses. Don't buy one though because I don't want to lose the novelty of turning heads around town.

I really like the sporty and stylish design of the Equinox. The interior has nice fit and finish and is very functional. I like the ability of the back seat to slide back and forth. When I was reading other owner reviews, the EPA mileage and it not being accurate has been a bone of contention. I have gotten really close to the 22 mpg city and 32 hwy. I do not do much highway driving but on a recent short trip I got around 31 mpg. Overall, I am greatly impressed with my first Chevrolet product.

Overall, I have been pleased with this purchase, but I should not have selected the 4 cylinder version. This needs 6! Acceleration is simply too sluggish. The other day I drove my wife's Malibu Maxx and was embarrassed to be squealing my tires as I left the office parking lot. Yeah - that different. My wife even wanted to take it back and exchange it.

I love my Equinox!! It is spacious and stylish... myself, my husband, and our 2 kids fit comfortably and I don't look like every other soccer mom in a mini van! :)
