Everyone has to own one once in their life

The PT Cruiser gets a bad rap but we didn?t really have any issues until It hit about 140k. Water pump extremely hard to reach. Otherwise most are great cars with lots of space and comfortable for long rides. There are some blind spots. Some have other quirks but since people love them so much, you can usually find one other person it?s happened to. Check the forums. Cool add on that Chrysler thought of, you can check error codes turning your ignition three times, then just look up the code. It?s a fun car.

Very reliable car

I loved this car. It was beautiful, inside and out. The drivers's seat wasn't extremely comfortable on long trips, but it was ok for short trips.

Wonderful car

This car was absolutely wonderful. It drove like a dream. It was pretty sound mechanically. Only drawback was the drivers seat. It was a little uncomfortable for long rides, but other than that it was perfect. Loved the body styling!!!!

decent commuter or touring car.

Nice styling & roomie even with 4 people. It gets decent milage & has good power. Some what hard to work on. Fairly reliable if you stay up on maintaining it.

Had problems since I got it

I like the way the PT Cruiser sits and rides, I even like the look, but I have had nothing but trouble with the vehicle since I bought it. Every vehicle has its ups and downs, but I should have done more research on this type of vehicle before purchasing. It is a cheap made vehicle, and I was informed that the timing chain in the PT Cruiser has to e changed about every 70,000 miles. Wish I would have known before purchasing and before having to replace it. Then I went to see what trade in value was and it was so low not even worth trading it in, I know you will not get the money you put in back but it has just been a headache.

Not a good long term investment

If you're looking for a interim vehicle that's cheap for about 2 or 3 years of driving, this one will be there for you. It's comfortable, decent space, and if you like it - it can be cute. However, outside of its hate it or love it appearance the engine is the real issue. Most mechanics hate working on PT Cruisers because access to some of the most simple parts require you to remove so much, and things are harder to access. Hard to access engine parts equals extra labor hours! Plus there is just bad design in areas like the gear shift. The gear shift functions because of a cable attached to the engine, like all cars but the cable on this gear shift resides directly above the combustion chamber causing it to overheat, melt, and break over time. As someone who had to spend a few hundred dollars replacing the entire gear shift because of this (it would have been more if I hadn't had a close friend working on it for me), this is a random and dangerous design flaw. It does not have a lot of get up and go either. So I would suggest this car only to someone who doesn't drive much and plans on getting a new vehicle shortly afterwards. Do not pay over $5,000.

Good used car

This car appears to be a good sound car. I've only had it for a month. Have had to do some repairs but that was expected.

Under-powered

I didn't expect much from the 4 cyl 2.0 motor. However this vehicle felt like it could not get out of its own way. While it is stylish and roomy, the engine felt weak and the frame felt much too light. Very bare bones, no meat.

Unreliable after a certain point

Standard Chrysler after 100K everything starts failing concurrently. First the water pump then the thermometer, timing belt. The car requires quite a bit of attention after awhile.
