Nice Car
The previous car I owned was a Chevy S10 and it had some problems. My dad gave a Dodge Intrepid that he put a lean on becuase of a customer not coming to pay for his repairs. I have always been supporting American cars and I would say the this car is a good deal. I love the fact that it is a sedan and has a lot of trunk space.

2.7L engine, not fun
Got a '00 intrepid se with 80,000 miles and it only lasted till 101,000. Car broke down every few months and needed something to be replaced. Over the year i owned it i had to get it fixed 3 times and the third time i said thats it. First the rear suspension snapped then the water pump and a few other things in the engine broke. Finally the engine blew and the transmission only had at most another 1000 miles. This car's tranny tends to go at 80-100k miles and the 2.7L engine is terrible however i dont know about the 3.2L or 3.5L but still even with those engines they all have the same tranny. Car did however look nice and handled really well with good interior space(didnt matter since car wasnt running.) I would stay away from the 2.7L engine and get the 3.5L, then all you have to worry about is the tranny going.

Great car!!!!
Everything I read about this car is horrible. I do agree that there is an oiling problem in the engine, but I have always used synthetic oil and changed it on time. My biggest compliant is have have put brakes on it 3 times (I think the system is to small for the car). To me, that is not that bad of a deal. I have 123,000 miles on it and have spent under $250.00 on it!!!!!!!! I have replaced the speed sensor, camshaft sensor, and water outlet. You tell me any car that cost $250 dollars besides repairs! Keep the oil changed and flush it every 3 times and you will be ok!!

'00 Intrepid beats '08 Imports
I own not one, but two 2000 Intrepids (if that indicates anything about the quality of the vehicle)! These cars are reliable (both are equipped with the 3.2-liter V6), comfortable, and very sporty. I love the power I feel when I push the accelerator! I also average 33 mpg highway and 19 mpg city... let's see an import combine power and economy like that! Dodge built a fantastic car when they made the Intrepid... and made a big mistake discontinuing them!

No problems, just change the oil!
I purchased this car with 54k on it and now have 80k on it, only one problem is the motor in the power seat died. Other than that the reliability has been great, not one problem at all. I have heard the Intrepids can have head gasket problems, but if you change the oil at 3k religiously, you should be fine. I have the ES with the 3.2L, and it has good power for a car it's size. Everyone comments on how roomy and comfortable the back seat is. I'm happy with the car overall, though I am looking to purchase something a little more sporty, but nothing against the Intrepid, it's a family sedan, it's not supposed to be sporty.

Satified owner
I have had this car for 6900 miles. Change tires and brakes only once. It has been and excelent car. I have the ES model that has the 3.2 eng. It has been a great eng. The people that are having eng. problems are the ones that have the 2.7, which is too small for this big car.

A lemon in disguise
I own a 2000 intrepid sedan and I have had nothing but problems out of this car. I am constantly replacing engine and brake parts. I go through a set of tires at least 4 times a year and I don't even drive far from work to home!!! Another co-worker has one and he also has engine problems with his. No I would not recommend this car to ANYONE!!! Right now it's in the shop for engine problems again!!!!!!!
