better than i expected
ive had my 05' neon for roughly four months now and have not experienced any major problems. i sold my f-150 due to skyrocketing gas prices this summer and now that they are down again i have a little remourse. the ride is decent, the speakers are awefull, mpg's could be a little better and the seats for some reason stain from any liquid, even rain water. but over all not to bad. it does the trick. the faults are minor and that is to be expected, keep in mind your not buying a luxury sedan.

Great Car and service
Got this car brand new in 2005. Best choice we ever made! This car was so awesome the first day. Then, it was wrecked the next day! But, the dealership took care of us, even coming to the scene of the accident and helping us out with where to go and what to do. We got it repaired in two weeks, and it runs like it's never even been in a wreck! Have had it now for 3 years and its never been better. Freezing cold A/C, hot heater, and just an awesome sound system and CD player make this a great buy! Too bad they stopped making it........I would definitely buy a newer year model!

Surprising, and I'm very Picky!
Lots of positive surprises with this car. Expected good mileage, getting very good mileage, in fact, it seems to break the trend of newer American cars that are adding weight and girth these days and get fewer mpg, which, to me, makes no sense. It is a very capable handler for a front-drive car, and very peppy for one in its category. My previous cars have been rear-wheel drive and on the sporty side, so for the Neon to impress me in this realm is actually quite amazing. Comfortable on long trips, and I have taken plenty of them. I stop for gas and that's it. No, it's not a float-boat. You are "connected" to the driving experience, but it doesn't wear you out like some other buzz-boxes might. I've seen comments about engine noise and really can't relate. Yes, it's buzzy when pushed, but drive the four-cylinder version of the "cutting-edge" Fusion (which is a really nice car, btw), and you'll see, the Neon is way quieter when you're punching it! It offers many of the convenience features of my previous car that spoiled me, a Lincoln Mark VII! Yes, not really comparable, but the Neon has nothing to be ashamed of. The warranty is one of the big reasons I bought it. Otherwise I would have bought a used, much "lower tech" car, something I knew I could fix in a pinch. But I think the Neon will be just fine in the long haul. It has given me no significant problems, and, as mentioned in other reviews, the stuff you need works, and works quite well.

I love my Neon!!!!
This car is awesome. I drove to tampa from central fl and it got awesome gas mileage. I bareily used any gas. It comfortable to drive in for long distances. My kids (2 and 5) fit fine in the back it was bigger than my escort My neon didn't have a cd player but i just hooked up my ipod and it worked great. The stero and speaker worked awesome too. I very happy with this car.

Cheapest feeling car I've owned
I'd strongly reccomend against the current generation of Dodge Neons. Very loud on the interior, and things begin to fall apart in about a year. The struts are already squeeking, the steering column has an irritating clunking, the dashboard has begun clattering inside just from the engine's idling vibrating whatever is loose in the instrument panel now. Overall, a very poor car. I am very very anxious to trade this one in for something NOT offered by Dodge or Chrysler.

The Subcompact Almost Got it Right!
When a car is inexpensive, it gets into the hands of everyone and no matter what the quality of the product, few people want to be known for owning a ?cheap car?. This is what happened to the Neon. It originally sold quite well, but near the end of its life, its merits and quality were overshadowed by the negative stigma that put it into the category of the Pinto, Cavalier, Festiva, Aries and others that most people now want to forget. What made things worse is that as the car was being improved upon with each iteration, Dodge failed to make much progress in certain key areas. First, the engine is noisy, the ride comfort is not awful, but hard enough to bother the non-enthusiastic driver, the fit and finish is below standard and the build quality would be good for a car built in the late 80?s. In the hands of certain drivers, those flaws are easily overshadowed by what makes the Neon great, especially the 2002-2005 models. First of all, the aggressive stance but inviting appearance is a mix that most compact manufacturers have attempted to imitate but have not matched (e.g. the Chevy Cobalt sedan?s fender flares and rear tail lights - complete rip-offs). Second, the car?s fuel economy is excellent. Third, the driving character of the car is nothing short of sporty especially when equipped with the manual transmission (I?ve driven the automatic version, and that one is almost as good). Although performance wise, the Neon is often compared the cars like the Chevy Cavalier and the Hyundai Elantra - it is a subcompact. And when compared to the contemporary cars in its class and price range like the Kia Rio, Nissan Versa and the Honda Fit, it is one of the fastest!

Great Car for Anyone!!!
I own the SXT version of the Neon and couldn't be happier! This car is really reliable and I have had no problems thus far and I drive quite a bit on a daily basis. It has an adequate amount of power even for some fun, nice handling, and a decent amount of room. This car handles decently in snow, dirt, mud, and water (puddles). I have made some trips with no problems, nice fuel economy. Good sound quality with the CD/radio system. The car has a sporty/practical look to suit different tastes. The A/C and heat work very well in all weather. I have received a lot of positive comments about my car! Great value! Overall, a good buy.

Best car i have had!!!
I have been to the beach twice and the mountains once. I have got an 2005 sxt with the sunroof, chrome rims, spollier. LOVE IT!! I love the gas mileage. Even though it was a hot summer the ac stayed frezzing cold even though I have dark interior seats and dash. It is silver with black interior. I have not had one problem with it yet. Has very good interior space to put everything. At the dealership they where very nice and always ask how it is doing. They take really good care of you. I have looked at alot of cars and you get your all of your money for this car. Love the cd player with six speakers, sounds good for factory.

Poe's Neon
Greatest car i have ever owened. It is more powerful and responsive than my old truck(v6) and alot better fuel economy. I love the body style, and it doesn't need much work to make it look 'street worthy' like lowering or anything like that. It has a good sound system for being stock. very comfortable stock bucket seats. Overall it is a great car and i would recommend it for any one.

Great commuter car
I love the gas mileage, handling, look. 30mpg in town about 38-40 on the highway. (I have the stripped down, crank window version) I dont love the engine noise, cramped interior, sqeaky brakes. The placement of console and cup holders is a little awkward. However, on long drives (1 hr or more) this car is pure pleasure! I have avoided 2 accidents with the awesome handling, quick response steering. The get up and go of this car makes passing uphill a no sweat operation. and man o man. Watch your speed! I have gotten up to 80 mph with this car and not even noticed!!!
