our expert's take

What Is the 2023 Ford Bronco Sport?

The 2023 Ford Bronco Sport is a five-seat SUV with a hint of the throwback design found on its bigger sibling, the Bronco. Powering the standard Bronco Sport is a turbocharged three-cylinder engine mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Optional is a 250-horsepower, turbocharged four-cylinder that adds considerably more pep when quick acceleration is needed. The SUV’s upright shape is great for headroom and cargo space; the space behind the backseat measures approximately 32 cubic feet.

Whats New on the 2023 Ford Bronco Sport?

Ford has added Heritage Edition and Heritage Limited Edition trims to the Bronco Sport lineup for the 2023 model year. They add retro design cues borrowed from the bigger Bronco, including a white roof and white-painted front grille, plus pastel paint hues inspired by the 1960s-era Bronco SUV.

What Features in the 2023 Ford Bronco Sport Are Most Important?

Standard features include:

  • 8-inch infotainment screen
  • Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
  • Wi-Fi hot spot
  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Forward collision warning
  • Blind spot warning
  • Rear cross-traffic alert
  • Six-speaker audio system

Available features include:

  • Wireless device charging
  • Dual-zone climate control
  • Moonroof
  • Bang & Olufsen audio system
  • Front-facing trail camera
  • Tow hooks
  • Off-road suspension
  • Leather seating

Should I Buy the 2023 Ford Bronco Sport?

Many SUV shoppers will flock to the larger, more expensive, thirstier Bronco, but the Bronco Sport should not be discounted. Thanks to its smaller size, more fuel-efficient engines and respectable all-terrain capability, the Bronco Sport is a strong alternative to the macho-overload Bronco. Based on the same platform as the Ford Escape compact SUV, the Bronco Sport is easy to drive on a daily basis, and it’s highly customizable thanks to its many trim levels and wide range of options.

  • I’m contacting a lawyer about lemon laws

We have a new 2023 bronco sport we bought August 1923. In January it was in the shop for 22 days because it wouldn’t go into reverse replaced three or four parts and finally got it going again. But then last week, the air conditioner went out, and now that’s working. But now the screen in the car intermittently goes black for a whole drive And needs to go back to the shop tomorrow. This has been a horrible experience for my daughter with her first car.

I have owned products for over 40 years, and this is the best vehicle that I had purchased! It rides smooth, excellent gas mileage, and a lot of room.

  • Best in Class

Bronco Sport had a much more sporty feel then all the car-like SUVs I drove. I like the different drive modes, match between transmission and turbo engine, taughtness of steering, abundance of features/ease of use on Big Bend model, solid suspension. This vehicle will hold up much better than the other SUV’s I drove in tough driving conditions. I guess I’m open to Ford as a car manufacture going forward.

  • I like how it drives smooth good turning radius.

The interior scratches too easy and shows scratches on doors. Not very excited about that seatbelt scratches the middle console very easy not very happy about that and not wireless connecting to the car like I was told when I bought the car. I do not like how the rocks kick up on the hood from the road scratches the paint I don’t know why it grabs the hood. Not very happy about that. This is my second bronco that I’ve had to the things I do love it’s a bronco does have four doors, I love my color green love how the seats heat up. Just wish that you wouldn’t have to keep it on high to get it on the very backside and heat your butt really fast you like the seeds fall down for my sister’s dog I love the screen, but there is a glitch on when you hook up your phone does not always connect to the car so I’m not very happy about that. Was in my old car as well , don’t it has enough room and comfortable when you have long legs 💚💖

  • Love the Bronco Sport Badlands

I liked the look of the Bronco Sport from the first time I saw it, and I like the mix of fun and practicality. I chose the Badlands trim specifically for the more powerful 2.0 liter Ecoboost engine. My wife and I own a 2017 Ford Escape with the same engine and it is powerful and fun to drive. I traded a 2017 Subaru Forester XT with a turbocharged engine and I liked that car as well and looked at an Outback Wilderness XT which was a very nice and practical car, with a comparable turbocharged engine, but after test driving both vehicles, my wife and I both liked the Bronco Sport Badlands more.

  • Excellent true suv for the price

Big bend cactus grey with convenience package all of the features you need for less than 35k. Peppy turbo 3 cylinder will surprise you. Excellent traction even with all season tire. Nice ride comfort. Roomy inside lots of head room. Comfortable heated seats. It heats up fast with app controlled remote start with the optional ptc heater. Average gas mileage city and highway 29 mpg. Can't say enough good things about this bronco.

  • 2023 Bronco Sport Heritage

I ordered the Ford Bronco Sport Heritage and had to wait for 6 months. It was well worth the wait. It is quiet and capable and returns 30 miles per gallon on regular gas. I test drove a Ford Bronco and honestly prefer the Ford Bronco Sport for three reasons, 1) the size is smaller, 2) It has more forward visibility, and 3) it is a better value for the money.

  • 2023 Ford Bronco Badlands Review.

Great all around compact well built SUV that navigates the roads which in my state are rough and challenging at best. I also run into bad weather frequently in winter with snow and in spring and fall rain. Taken off road it handles trails well that I use to get to camping sites or fishing areas. It is a very easy to drive SUV that fits an active lifestyle giving both lots of room and a decent ride for the family and myself.

  • Bronco Sport Saved My Life

My boyfriend, dog, and myself were involved in a car accident while driving my 2022 Bronco sport. A woman tboned us after running a stop sign and our Bronco slid off the road into a ditch and rolled onto the driver side. That cabin cocooned us with multiple airbags and the seat belts kept us firmly snug in the seats. The backseat air bags saved my 35 pound dog from flying out the window. The hood folded up protecting us from engine debris. That Bronco saved my family and will now be the only vehicle I’ll ever drive again.
