My Explorer

Beautiful style and great handling Still would like to see the navigation screen look like that if the F-150 and such but much better than prior years. Love the comfort and luxurious feel

Show me a better bang for the buck

Ordered my 2022 model ST on October 8th, and took delivery December 24th, 2021 I'd love to read anyone's opinion what they view is a comparable vehicle within $30k of the suggested retail price: Heated/Air-conitioned/Massaging leather seats with fully automatic powerfold 3rd row; panoramic moon roof, Bang&Olufsen 14 speaker stereo, 21 inch 7 spoke black rims, 400HP/420lb twin turbo V6, Adaptive cruise with full stop and fully autonomous (it checks that you have your hands on the steering wheel) lane keeping technology. The ride is just as nice, with more room, >way< more performance, and better sounding audio than anything from Toyota, Honda, GM, Hyundai/Kia and Nissan (although I admit not being too familiar with the new Pathfinder). The only thing that comes close (and probably surpasses) is a Durango SRT with the Harman Kardon sound system and for that you'll pay $15k more and get 7-8 mpg less. Heavy foot off the throttle I get 22mpg all day long. I have read a lot about the Telluride/Pallisade platforms, I'll give them the nod on interior material quality, but I'll blow their doors off at the stoplight and not hear one word of complaint because my stereo is way louder than theirs...and, well, they'll be five car lengths behind me. Mine is Forged Green Metallic. I think the Blue choices for Explorer are awesome as well. This is the first Ford I have ever owned: 3 Nissan's (including a Pathfinder) and 2 Dodge's prior to this. I love the upright tablet style center display, but I do not love the number of taps of the screen it takes to get to certain features like sound adjust and massaging seat adjust. I also cannot stand the fact that Auto Start-Stop is default ENABLED and it has to be turned-off manually each time starting the car. I do like the "ST" red illumination projected on the ground every time you lock unlock the doors. I had a custom seat cushion made for the third row (6" of lift at the hip and 2" of lift at the rear) now two 6 foot adults can ride there for as long as the journey takes. No amount of cushion in the third row will support two adults in anything in this class with the exception the Durango, but I've already made my point on that model. It's been only 8 months but so far zero regrets. Happy shopping to you all.

Ford messed this one up...

I received my new 2022 Explorer after waiting for five months, and I am so disappointed. I was an Explorer enthusiast until this one. I have owned two others for the last nine years. My 2022 has really bad wind noise, shifts up and down extremely hard, the engine has a weird rumble, and it feels like you are riding in a square bus the way the frame and body don't go with each other when switching lanes or turning. Just an absolutely terrible ride and even makes both my wife and me a little motion sick. I really wish I could say nice things about this car, but I am already looking at trading it in for a competitor after just 1500 miles, and I have never done this in my 40-plus years of driving. Most of the time, I keep a car for 4-6 years as I have my last 2 Explorers because I loved them so much but definitely not this one.

Transmission, engine, and road noise.

Purchased my Explorer Platinum from DeanSellers Ford in June 2022. My 2019 Explorer was the best SUV I have ever had, so I was really looking forward to the new 2022. Disappointments galore. The 2019 6 speed transmission shifted so smooth and quiet. With The new “improved” 10 speed trans, you hear feel every shift as soon as you accelerate. The 2019 3.5L engine was as quiet as a Bentley. The 2022 3.0L, combined with the 10 speed transmission, makes you feel like you are hearing a 50hp Suzuki 2 stroke outboard motor from the 1980s. The engine noise is pitiful. I also believe the road noise is much worse in the 2022. Ford I believe, may have used cheaper glass, insulation, and wheels which created profound the road and engine noise in the 2022. I told the dealership I was disappointed in the vehicle, and sent an email to Ford also. Ford did contact me and thanked me for my input. In hindsight, I should have kept my 2019, and purchased Fords extended 100,000 mile warranty and I would have been much happier.

Ford King Ranch Explorer is BEST CAR ever!!!

We have the '22 King Ranch Explorer and just love it. We had sold a 2013 Lincoln MKT and thoght it was the best car we had ever owned- However this King Ranch is top of the line and do not know what else you could add. Excellent driver-lots of safety things-extremely comfortable and very easy to love. Extremely quiet-yes more quiet than the 2013 Lincoln.

so-so

Seats are small and hard. Doesn't feel like it has shocks. Awful lot of road noise, more than my suburban or my f250. Other than those things, it is a great LITTLE car. Love the electronics.

Great Hybrid

My model is a Hybrid. Getting really good gas mileage so far. Haven’t found anything yet to NOT like. Still getting used to all the bells and whistles. I’ve always been a Blue Oval buyer so not certain how it holds up to other hybrids in the same price range

2022 Explorer XLT

I had a great buying experience at Gervais Ford in Ayer MA. They had the Explorer I was looking for in stock and after a test drive, they got it ready to drive home. After a month, I still love to drive it. It’s much roomier than expected and the cot had most all the features you could want. If anything different I would have gone with the limited for the few extras since I plan to keep the car for a long while.
