2012 Ford Focus consumer reviews

This could have been a fantastic car if it wasn't for 2 big problems. The first is the big one with focus and fiesta automatics; the transmission. It's pretty dim-witted and jerky. This is because it is a computer controlled manual transmission. So the the best it gets is like riding with someone who learned to drive a stick a few weeks ago. The second, and a pretty big deal to me is the wipers. They either have to be on full or off. Every time I try to adjust the speed, it'll do fine for a few wipes, then go back to the slowest setting. It wouldn't be a big deal but I think seeing where you're going is kind of important. Besides those, it's great. Great mileage, decent pickup, attractive (2012-2015 only), surprisingly good headroom if you get electric seats, and an ok ride.

I'm very pleased with my 2012 Focus. I was involved in a car pile up that totaled my vehicle and two other including a Suburban. I was sandwiched between a fusion (driving at 65 mph) and a Suburban that was stopped in front of me. The crash totaled my vehicle but I was able to easily open the door and exit the car with minor bruises. I rate this car as safe as can be. My second Focus (same model year) I was able to drive in some of Utah's dirt roads (Valley of the Gods, Monument Valley and a 3 mile steep climb. With it's 2.0 4 cylinder engine, my Focus made through all that and exceeded my expectation in that regard. It's up to 180K miles and still going!!!

I like Ford, and Focus is the best choice for those, who wants to save money and time. It eats less gas, but driving this car is so good!

Good fuel mileage, great hand handling and traction! Everything about the car is simple and easy to figure out. Ford did a great job on the Focus in 2012.

Very disappointed. Steering wheel problems! Replacement of $2,300.00! I?ve taken excellent care of my Ford Focus 2012, less than 40,000 miles! Maintenance at the dealership always on time. And Ford knows this model will have this problem at some point and not offering any help to get this solve. They are getting more money because the part itself it?s expensive. I was reading there was a lawsuit against Ford about this problem, unfortunately it didn?t went through. Do your research and save some money! Never again, Ford! You have lost a faithful customer. Don?t trust you anymore! Don?t buy this car!

We bought this car new off the lot with 25 miles on it and now have 85,000+ miles on it,, but has been trouble within 2 years and getting worse. Transmission was re- programed by recall. Seat material is horrible, stains with water. I cleaned them once a week to try to keep it looking OK. As of today, had driver's side window motor replaced, the headliner is falling down by the back windshield, steering when is dry rotting, had to remove fuse from radio because it would go to static and could not be shut off. Replaced rear brake light twice and default still comes on showing brake light default. Keyless entry hasn't worked for more than a year. I'm sure all can be fixed by the dealer for 1,000's, but can't see paying the dealer and most back yard mechanics aren't equipped with the reprogramming computers needed. The electronics are horrible. We either bought a lemon or Ford sucks, and I venture to say it is the 2nd choice.

Worst car purchase ever. The car had so many transmission issues and I was terrified to drive it as it would stall and buck and not want to accelerate. It caused a lot of paranoia and anxiety behind the wheel and am so thankful I got rid of it. The interior was also very small and not roomy. The MPG even with the Super Fuel Efficient package was terrible as I only got up to 30 MPG on the highway. Ford made a big mistake with these cars... never buying an American vehicle again.

I love how smooth it drives. It's reliable, and the safety ratings are great. The gas mileage is fantastic. I just wish my seat was a little more comfortable for long car rides.

Thing is junk nothing but problems transmission problems electrical problems nothing but problems I would not recommend this to a family nor friend... thank you for the opportunity

Nice entry level car. Ford Focus SE hatchback. Love the exterior styling. The interior could use a few tweaks, but feels very roomy for such a small car.
