Loving my new Fusion Hybrid

This car was difficult to obtain. However, it was worth the wait. Handles great, good pickup and overall comfortable ride. My hybrid has the luxury package, moonroof, 17" wheels, Voice activated navigation, Tech Package with Sync, Rear sensors, Rear camera and the driver assist package which has BLIS (blind spot indicator system) and cross traffic alerts. I was not looking for the driver assist package but it is very helpful. It also has automatic wipers and highbeams which work suprisingly well. It is a very techy car but all the controls are easily navigated. And gas mileage is good but not up to 47mpg yet. To be fair I have only filled the tank once and got 35mpg combined. I hope to improve this as my hybrid driving techniques improve. My sons are both over 6ft and fit easily in the back seats. I would not hesitate to recommend this car.

Ford Fusion Hybrid -- two thumbs up!

30 days of driving has been a joy! The smooth transition from electric to gas power is nearly undectable and the console screen has fun and intuitive features for controlling the climate, entertainment and back-up camera. The ride is smooth and the seats comfortable. The mobile phone sync sound is not as crisp as I would like, but I am going to ask the dealership to check it out. The exterior design is awesome, with impressive blinker lighting on the mirrors & keyless entry on the door frame post. Check this out if you're looking for a sharp ride that delivers 40+ mpg combined highway/city driving w/even more expected.

Great car

Shopped for 3 months to find the right one. Don't believe that you can't get a great deal...I did..Just need to set the price you want to pay and walk if you don't get it. It pays to shop around..I have 1800 miles on it, so far at 38.8 mpg...Highway is where I lose it..Hopefully once it's broken in, mileage will further improve..Handles super. has 18" rims..that takes about 4 mpg off also I read..would highly recommend

disappointed

Got the car a week ago. Drove to LA from Vegas, never over 70, drove on electric as much in town as possible. Got great marks on "leaves" and "score". Averaged 33.4 MPG for 800 plus miles. Never expected 47, but the only way this car will get advertised mileage is if you have it towed on a flatbed one way. Great car, design and gadgets. Nav not wonderful. Took to dealer who advised me that all of the other clients are getting advertised mileage. Checked mileage on way there (downhill) never over 60 mpg...got 34.5. Went home (uphill) got 29.6. I love the car, but wish I had bought the Accord. Asked dealer for tips on how to improve mileage. TEch did diagnostic on car and said I was doing everything right. I can live with mileage I guess (not much choice there) but the fact I have to fill up every three hudnred miles sucks.! Maybe miraculously all of my trips will be downhill.!

The Hybrid for Skeptics

Ditto to Jim's review. I have had my Fusion Hybrid for 8 days now and couldn't be happier. I was a little disappointed with the gas mileage on my 210 mile drive home from my dealer (32 mpg with an average speed over 70 mph), but with over 700 miles on it now, my ten mile commute home tonight(80% hwy) got 45.2 mpg. A ten mile test today of city driving at 30-40 mph got 52.3 mpg. Mine is White Platinum with Dune interior, with the Luxury & Technology packages, Nav and Moonroof, with the Luxury wheels to finish off its Euro good looks. I don't feel you need any of the Driver Assist options, unless you're over 80 years old. With properly adjusted mirrors and rear view camera, there are no blind spots. There is no wind noise at any speed. The regenerative brakes and the steering are excellent, with a very solid, smooth ride. My Fusion has already learned when I'm one mile from home and switches to 100% electric. If your speed is under 63 mph on a level hwy, the car will also occasionally switch to 100% battery power for a minute or more. The gas engine and the brakes recharge the battery surprisingly fast. All transitions are virtually seamless. The only thing that could make me happier with this car is having Ford's Ambient Lighting for the interior, which is only available with the Titanium version that will only come with a black interior, which is an option I'll never choose. MyFord Touch and Sync have been flawless and easy to use. I would recommend that all Ford dealers activate the Easy Entry & Exit feature on every Fusion on their lots. By automatically moving the driver's seat to its rearmost position, it make getting in and out of the car much easier, which is a very important first impression for car buyers. They should also verify that the center screen displays the time (something every driver looks for)and not the date, along with pointing out to a buyer that the gas filler door opens by pushing on it. I feel with its beautiful design and many advanced features, the Fusion Hyrid is the best American car on the market. And Ford did it without bailout money, another important reason for choosing it.

Love my 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid, Amazing Car

Purchased a 2013 Ford Fusion Hybrid SE. Can't say enough amazing things about it! So far it drives like a dream. Whether in get-up-and-go gas mode or quiet and 60mpg electric mode, it cruises smooth and has the options of a luxury car that costs 20k more. I have adaptive cruise control, lane assist, blind spot & collision monitor, proximity sensors on all sides. It really is a sharp looking car with the most high tech options of any car I've ever driven! (and I've had a Mercedes and a Lexus). I've been driving all week and haven't even used 6 gallons. If everyone could drive this car and see how much gas they save, they would be on their way to their nearest Ford dealership!

Getting 55 MPG

Please ignore the prior 2 reviews - come to Dallas and try and buy one - you can't - I should know I bought one of the first ten in the entire country. I constantly get people coming up to me to ask about the car and had to leave one restaurant twice to go back outside to show them the car. Drove an Audi A8L and the suspension on this is better - kid you not. Run don't walk to try one out if you are lucky enough to find one - Ford got this one so right!!!

Not bad. Not perfect.

Not bad, not perfect. Bought this new hybrid for my wife. We like its smooth lines. It looks like a Hyundai or Kia and that's what she she finds most attractive. A little more distinction from the base Fusion would have been nice. The swooping profile contributes to poor interior room and sightliness. Our college age boys are tall and rugged and find the Fusion unbearable in back. The front is a tad better but not its still uncomfortable for their height and mine. The main reason for our purchase is for class leading gas mileage and at this time it is too early after purchase to tell. The ride is too rough for most but handling in good. The trunk room is improved upon the opening is too narrow to load larger objects. The dashboard is busy and takes getting used to. Materials are a step above most Ford products we have owned but could be better when compared to Japanese and Korean counterparts. My wife is please with most aspects of ownership and aside from an initial stalling issue addressed after one shop visit, we have had no other major troubles.

Green, but not comfy

The car looks like the big brother of the Focus but nothing earth shattering, as FMC had led consumers to think. The frontend is too Jaguar like and I think Ford could have found a styling theme more unique than copying that of a division it sold off. The overall look aside from the cheesy grille is nice and streamline and I hope it translates to a hybrid with state of the art aerodynamics and best in class MPG. The interior is not comfy at all and seems cramped, especially compared with the nicely packaged Toyota Prius and newer than Toyota Honda Insight. My wife has a current model Toyota Camry XLE Hybrid and we both think it is perfect in every way but I wanted to buy American when the Toyota Highlander Hybrids' lease was up in October 2012. After deciding on the '13 Ford Fusion Hybrid and being set on a U.S. make, the Chevrolet Volt electric with its government rebate would be the car I would now recommend to friends. I know a lot of delighted Chevy Volt and Nissan Volt owners. Other shockers with the 2013 Fusion have to do with a poorly executed and needlessly confusing interior and the layout of its controls. The roofline is oddly sloped and not suitable for taller drivers and passengers. Finger pinching buttons are too small, sharp to the touch and numerous. They are illogically placed and distracting. MYSYNC and MYFORD features are too gimmicky and needless and the expense should have been put to better use in such a crowded market. Trunk room is a bit better than the '12 Fusion I looked at but the truck opening is tiny on the 2013 model. The Camry is a better road car in all regards but the Fusion is flashier if you put that sort of thing above all else and price is not a factor. The new Fusion is too costly but ridding it of all useless standard technology should be a given in an environmental friendly green vehicle like a hybrid, electric or an alternative fuel car.
