I bought a Ford Maverick in 2022.
I bought a Ford Maverick in 2022. I was very excited about the prospect of having a truck with hybrid capabilities, and could not wait to take delivery. At first all seemed well, but soon the reality of Ford's substandard build quality and terrible customer service began to surface. To begin with, the truck was plagued by numerous recalls involving electrical, engine and other unexplainable gremlins that had me visiting the dealership regularly for extended periods of time. To make matters worse, every time I tried to reach out to the service manager, I never ONCE received a phone call back, and had to rely on my service advisor for answers (which usually were not satisfactory to say the least,) What really exemplified Ford's incompetence at every level was the occurrence of a no-fault crash I suffered in this substandard vehicle in 2024. I was hit at appx. 50 mph at an intersection and THE AIRBAGS, ALL OF THEM, FAILED TO DEPLOY. Not even the emergency blinkers automatically engaged, something pretty routine for even older vehicles. I basically ended up with life altering injuries because of a truck that failed at every level to keep its occupant safe in a crash. After doing some research, I found that there had been a recall of the Maverick air bags but my vehicle was not included in the recall. Obviously it should have been, and I was never notified. I tried reaching out to Ford to let them know what happened. After almost 2 months of being placed on hold, redirected ad nauseum, and having no communication, Ford offered to "buy back" my vehicle, which is laughable considering that they knew that the vehicle had been totaled in the crash and there was nothing to "buy back." This saving face attempt once again epitomized Ford's complete disconnect, whether purposeful or not, with their customers and the real gravity of the situation. Not even an apology was ever offered for what I have gone through this past year at the hands of this abomination of a truck. By the way, at least 5 pf my friends and family have asked about the "quality" of my Maverick, as they were thinking of buying one. Needless to say, after sharing my experience, they decided otherwise. I am satisfied to know that, up to this point, I have cost Ford some good money in lost sales, and I am sure that this review (which by the way will be posted on EVERY dealership and Ford review website in the states) will likewise result in what they deserve: lost sales for an inferior product and inexcusable customer relation policies. By the way, no attorney will touch this incident because obviously they know that, in spite of overwhelming evidence (pics, police report, witnesses, etc.) Ford's team of attorneys will cover for any of their negligence and product liability. If you want to risk your life driving a substandard vehicle, be ignored at the dealership, treated like garbage by corporate, and have absolutely no legal recourse against a negligent car manufacturer, then Ford is the vehicle for you. Now driving a new Toyota truck, I feel like if, God Forbid, someone runs into me again, I will be protected and not hung out to dry by an irresponsible corporate machine that only views profits and shareholders as valuable, not human beings.

At 64,000 miles there was a problem where it dropped into “ limp mode”. Zero acceleration, it drove between 4 and 30 mph. First fix was a reset of the hybrid power train control module. The second time, dealer could find nothing. Third time, consulted Ford Corporation and after four months, Ford decided a new engine was the fix. A year later, here I am again with the same issue. Again! They told me they can’t find anything to fix and the code is a generic “ engine degradation “. This is an unacceptable situation for me. I am in the process of looking for a vehicle to trade this in for. Other than this, I give it good review scores but… this may be the last Ford I ever buy and that’s not in a good way. Pass on the 22’s and 23’s . If you must buy one, 2024 or 2025. As for me, I R.E.F.U.S.E to trust Ford ever again.

It’s a cheap truck they build to cut corners.
It’s a cheap truck they build to cut corners. The exterior paint is horrible, mine chipped down to the bone within my first week have a huge white spit on the front hood where it happened. Can’t clean it, holds water and soap all over the plastics, again the paint is horrible. There are weird functions in the truck. There is this auto blower that has a 1 2 or 3 setting. If your finger by accident hits it on the touchscreen there is no button to turn it off or change it just cycles through 1,2,3. I was having a panic attack because it was so cold and it wouldn’t shut off so I got out of my car then back in and it was off. The temp control inside is bad. It’s either so cold you could hang meat in the car or if you turn the ac off the air on low is warm. In the summer I can’t drive for more than 3 minutes without needing to adjust the blowers or temperature. I’m definitely missing some things. Steer clear of the ford maverick

I own the 2022 Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid and so far with
I own the 2022 Ford Maverick XLT Hybrid and so far with roughly 28,000 miles on it I love it. Cannot believe the gas mileage that I get. From April thru Nov I am in the upper 40's to low 50's. That is driving in the cities and highways between the cities. Any long travels on the expressway and my mileage drops to the mid to low 30's. When I purchesed it in 2022 I stayed with the standard XLT interior and I do not regred not upgrading it. It is comfortable for a vehicle and it is quiet. I have easily gotten 4 golf bags in the truck bed and 4 golfers in the cab with one of those golfers standing at 6 foot 8 inches. I've also been able to get 2 10 foot kayaks in the bed with no problem. Yes, they extended beyond the tailgate but had no problems. So far I rank my purchase of my 2022 SLT Ford Maverick Hybrid as one of the top two vehicles I've purchased in my life time, and I will be 74 in 2025.

Child seat upper portion attachment is ridiculous!
Just purchased this vehicle. Tried installing child seats. Absolutely ridiculous design for attaching the upper portion of the child seat!!! What were the designers thinking? You couldn't make it anymore difficult to install one car seat, let alone a pair. An attachment must be quickly made to allow the car seat attachment to be secured without moving the back forward. Just absolutely ridiculous, horrible, etc.!!

Overall an Awesome Truck!!!!!
I preordered my 2022 Maverick and waited 14 months for it to arrive. It is a Hybrid and overall I think that it is a great truck. There are some things that I wish that it had like my F150s had but it doesn't and overall in the scheme of things they are minor and it doesn't change how I feel about the truck. It has great performance and gas mileage is way better than an F150. As with first year production I have had some recalls that have been painlessly taken care of however there is one still open that Ford does not have a remedy for yet and that does concern me some but I still like the truck.

My Favorite Vehicle That Won’t Start
My 2022 Maverick hybrid is the girl you love but may have to break up with. Despite everything that’s right about it, which is virtually everything, I never know when I reach the garage if the dash will be dark and the battery dead. Truck has been to the dealership eight times in 15-months. Towed three of them. Currently has been at dealership a few days short of six-weeks as dealer, with help from Ford Corporate, try to figure out root cause of why a truck used daily randomly decides not to start. Most discerning is Ford’s slow response time to aid dealer in solving manufacturing issue and now that they are involved unable to fix the product they designed and manufactured.
