2012 GMC Terrain consumer reviews

I purchased a used 2012 GMC Terrain from a GMC dealership at 62500 miles. Over the last two years there have been several problems all of which were repaired at the dealership that sold me the car: 1) the motor for the windshield wipers went out (in the middle of a hale storm) that cost $350.00 it wasn't covered under warranty 2) every time the heat/air is turned on medium to high the car is filled with the smell of gas. The quote for that repair was $300.00 so we just deal with it by cracking the window and turning the heat/air on & off as tolerable. Finally the engine timing chain in the engine came off at 89,000 miles. The quote for that repair is $5900.00. We have other GMC vehicles that are much older with a lot more miles on them and never dealt with the constant problems that emerged with the Terrain. The bottom line is the GMC Terrain is a lemon. Don't waste your time or money on this cash cow of a car!

I bought this SUV from dealership at 120K and after 2yrs the car battery goes down during winter I changed battery with CAA but the problem continued. At the moment the engine is all messed up at 185k and I must say it is a disappointment for a 2012 SUV. No warrant in place and it cost so much to change the engine. I have had other cars with much higher mileage and had never experienced such problem before. I bought the car from cardealsdirect and they asked me to bring it in to see how they can help in fixing or exchange for another car of choice. I hope things go as they promised. I don’t intend ever driving this car again. I need to go for another car and brand. I don’t have a car at the moment to commute to work I depend on friends and bus in this crazy weather. Besides I still have to pay the required monthly finance for this car. It is my first time ever financing a car and it’s not been a good experience. I think I may have to go back to buying a car within a price range I can pay off and always consider Toyota’s, Honda, Nissan’s or even Mercedes Benz I have tried them and they had never failed me.

The past 4 years with this vehicle have been reliable. I've been able to save gas while having the space to move around with family or to other cities, the interface is simple and straight forward, so knowing when a oil change is coming to maintain the vehicle to good performance helped me a lot. The power steering is electronic so there is no need to check for fluids there, the wheel is always soft and easy to drive.

This car is both stylish and economical. I have plenty of room in it and it runs great! For a vehicle of this size it actually gets decent gas mileage. Very comfortable and feels very safe.

I went from a 3rd row SUV to the Terrain. I was worried about space and hauling larger items, but very happy with the change.

I have a truck so I needed a vehicle that is great on gas for work travel. Family loves it big time! Seats are comfortable for the long trips and enough space to easily fit 3 plus packed gear and bags. And also the fact that it?s AWD makes it very suitable for the New England winter road conditions.

I am impressed with the overall functionality of this vehicle. It handles well and has many extra options that make driving as much as I do enjoyable.

This car has had so many recalls so many issues it?s hard for me to keep up with it or consumption issue the exhaust manifold issue climate controlled air blower horn timing chain issues Power seat adjuster issues also had air-conditioning issues leaking This car is a 2012 I bought it new it?s got 135,000 miles on it and I?ve had all these failures and I don?t know what?s gonna happen next and seems like a car that is yet as almost paid for and should be able to be utilize it for at least eight or 10 years and cost me $24,000 Should not be falling apart in just under six years, I understand have a recall here n there it?s expected. But when you gotta recall exhaust manifolds timing chains piston rings I mean cmon

I just bought my 2012 GMC Terrain 2 days ago. I has enough cargo room with back seats folded down to hold my metal art for a small inside show. I had originally thought I'd need a small trailer but I may not. I've already put over 700 miles on it and love it.

This vehicle is extremely reliable, safe and has a lot of space. Great for road trips, the winter time, and a great night out with friends.
