Vehicle Overview
Facing criticism of its redesigned Civic sedan, Honda significantly updated the compact car for the 2013 model year. For 2014, the Civic coupe’s exterior styling gets a makeover and both body styles gain new available technology features. The Civic’s many competitors include the Chevrolet Cruze, Ford Focus, Toyota Corolla and Hyundai Elantra.
New for 2014
New technology features include a 7-inch touch-screen stereo, Honda’s unique LaneWatch blind spot monitor and push-button start. Also available is the HondaLink system, which provides smartphone integration with the car. The available automatic transmission has been replaced by a continuously variable automatic that helps improve the car’s fuel efficiency.
In addition to revised styling, the Civic coupe’s suspension has been updated with higher spring rates and a stiffer rear stabilizer bar. Most models have slightly higher engine output thanks to a retuned exhaust system.
The performance-oriented Civic Si, which is offered in coupe or sedan form, gets larger 18-inch wheels and its suspension tuning is new, too, with higher spring rates, new dampers and a stiffer rear stabilizer bar.
