Appearances aren't everything.
Appearances aren't everything. In a time where cars are becoming tablets on wheels the 17 crv has everything you need and nothing you don't. I love it's style, with some supple curves and sharp points it manages to look sportier than it is. I loved this car...at first. I've taken it on semi long road trips. It's comfortable, it's driver assist features are great. I don't think I could ever go back to a "dumb" car after this... that being said... Reliability. Shortly after I financed it I learned that the car had a new power train. If you dont know I'm telling you now, never buy the first model year with a new engine or transmission. There are issues with fuel contaminating the oil. So far as I know this hasn't caused me any problems but that leads me to another issue... If anything goes wrong, from corroded battery terminals (speaking from experience) to bad sensors, anything that goes wrong will cause every. Single. Check light to go off. You will freak out. I don't understand in this computer age why cars can't just come out and tell you what's wrong. Why do you need an obdIi sensor any more? I've had to clean my battery terminals numerous times because they become so corroded it throws up a check engine light. But most recently I lift the hood and lo! The terminals are clear! So I order a sensor online and wait a few days and come to find out my engines running rich. Go online and see a Honda owners forum where numerous others have similar issues, some get off lucky with just a bad 02 sensor but I know I'm not that fortunate so I Steel myself and take the car to a local mechanic because F*** dealership markups. All 4 fuel injectors fail their test. I emailed Honda to complain. Generic cookie cutter response. The mechanic said it's really unusual for all 4 fuel injectors to go bad on a car with only 70k miles. That's practically brand new in our modern age of ICE engines. I said to Honda that I don't understand if so many owners have this issue that its not a recall. If your engine isn't burning off all the gas that could ruin your catalytic converter which costs THOUSANDS to repair. I'm already looking at about a thousand give or take to replace the injectors and then if I don't huck the car off on someone else I might have to do it all over again in another 70k miles. I'm just so disappointed in Honda. All this talk of reliability but really they're just coasting on past success. . . I shoulda bought another subaru

CRV has been a very good good vehicle.
CRV has been a very good good vehicle. Engine has lots of power for its size category. Exterior and interior materials are very high quality, especially on the EX-L versions and higher. Car has required very little maintenance other than scheduled items. Rear visibility is better than many other SUVs. Cargo volume and rear seat legroom are more than ample. Gas mileage is pretty impressive as well. We liked the CRV so much, we bought a second one.

Owning this car has been a nightmare.
Owning this car has been a nightmare. It has been one problem after another. The dealership has been awful to deal us. There is currently some issue where the car will work fine for a few months, and then it will lose the ability to accelerate. We keep taking it back to the dealership - they will think it is the spark plugs, fuel injectors, water pump - we pay to have it fixed, and then a few months later the problem starts again. They will suggest another fix. We bought it used. It will end up being the most expensive car I ever owned due to how much we are going to lose selling it and how much we have put into it. Simultaneously, we have had problems with my Honda Odyssey 2016 (this turned out to be a faulty hose) and my parents 2018 Odyssey. There was one point where we were trying to use my parents car so the CR-V could be at the dealership - for the forth time - and my car and theirs both developed issues. Honda used to be a reliable brand. In 30 years I have exclusively driven Hondas. I have owned a civic, accord, and multiple Odysseys. My dad (in his 70s) has driven Hondas since 1984. We have all sworn them off at this point. The quality has gone down

The best suv I've ever purchased.
It's bad that some may have had problems with this CRV. I do believe it's rare when compared to other vehicle makers however. I've owned my share of lemons over the years. CRV has always been popular. Honda actually has addressed the few "fuel in oil issues" of northern winters, and the A/C compressor seal complaints by extending warranty time for both issues to all owners. I feel this CRV is the best in performance, cargo space, interior layout and quality, and modern safety features that others just didn't even offer in 2017. A price value like this won't ever be seen again.

Best car ever!
Excellent car & gets great mileage, especially on long trips. The car battery seems to not last as long as it should. This is my second CRV and my first one had the same issue. They need better batteries. Other than that I have no complaints.

Honda quality is not where it used to be.
Engine is known to accumulate unburn fuel into the oil. Vice versa the oil burns and creates carbon deposits starting with fuel injectors and spark plugs. Honda knows about flaw in the engine and avoided addressing it. If you change oil, you have more oil/fuel mixture coming out. Had weird issue with alarm draining battery, which was solved by new BCm. Dealership was not able to diagnose the issue, because it was intermittent, but I did not enjoy looking for someone to give me a jump or neighbors knocking on my door because alarm was going off until battery died. My mechanic replaced the BCM and it went back to normal. Defective fuel injectors will change your dashboard into a light show and disable all advanced functions. One "misfire on cylinder one" triggers light show and shuts down all advanced function, where the actual problem is with fuel injector. Honda overall quality is not what is used to be and even fixing AC recall is a challenge, typical bait and switch: they can't do the AC recall, because discharge hose is leaking, note no physical damage on discharge hose, just crappy hose cramping, and it will cost you additional $450. Had cars that were 10+ years older and never an issue with AC hose leaking. It might run while on warranty, otherwise expensive to keep it running. Dealer quoted $3069 for fuel injectors replacement and AC hose discharge. Like I stated before Honda quality is no longer there. Flawed engine design continues to newer models

Very un Honda like cruise control. Exterior looks( tad frumpy, funky).

New to me but used.
I had typed out what felt like an essay for this car and ended up deleting it. I do love the car and I bought it used with 90,000 miles on it so it’s new to me. Although I’m thinking the person who had it before me traded it in because it may have had issues they didn’t want to deal with. One being the rear has a bit of sag in it because of the rear upper control arm bushings being worn out. It does need new tires and I need them ASAP but I’m working on it. The turbo is a definite upgrade from my previous cars because I’ve never had a turbo. The CVT isn’t new to me but I love them seamless performance. I wish I could just drive the car endlessly for a job if I could find one. It’s pretty comfortable and I do love it.

2017 Honda CRV
I have driven a Honda for years. I have very disappointed in the 2017 Honda CRV. At 60,000 miles all of the lights came on and I was told that the fuel injectors needed to be replaced. Luckily I had paid for extended warranty for up to 125,000 miles. This corrected the issue until 130,000 miles. Again all of the lights came on and was told that it was the same issue and it would cost a significant amt to get it repaired since I was 5,000 miles out of warranty. Contacted Honda due to having knowledge that the Honda Pilots had been recalled for this same issue. After many weeks of contacting Honda I was informed that the appeal to fix my car was denied. Not sure I will be driving a Honda in the future.
