Ugliest car you'll ever love

When my wife and I were shopping for cars, one thing we KNEW we didn't want was a Honda Element. Then we saw them giving a demo at the auto show. The interior captivated us with its wide entry, fold-away rear seats, carpet-less easily-cleaned floor, waterproof neoprene seats, console shifter, huge interior, and spacious headroom. When we drove it we appreciated the smooth-shifting real-time 4wd, antilock brakes, and crisp handling. We couldn't find one thing wrong except the blind spots in the rear. The car is smaller outside than it feels on the inside, and we have fit more into the cargo area than most people fit into a minivan. With time, we noted that the mileage is poor and the engine underpowered. However, due to a rear-ending where we sustained cosmetic damage and the other car lost a grille, bumper, and radiator, we now appreciate the safety and durability of its build. Oh, yeah, we don't think it's ugly anymore. It grows on you.

Dont buy this car

The blind spots make it hard to drive. It doesn't have any more features than you should expect on any car and far less than you should expect for the money you pay for this car. What idiot put the sun roof there? The EPA milage on the all wheel drive version is exctly backward. It doesn't appear that it will drive away from any front end accident no matter how slight. There is only room in the back if you can stack up, like with shelves, and the rear doors being backward make it a real pain to load in a parking lot.

The first and not the last

Fantastic through and through. Reliable, cavernous, great on gas yet still spunky. Everything you could hope for from a Honda and a lot more. I am sure when the time comes for a new vehicle a few years down the road, I will be shopping for another Element. My only complaint is beware of the seating: it only has room for 4. Other than that, buy one. Buy one now.

Fun Car!

Definately more of a young car than many SUV's out there. Not very family oriented with only four bucket seats. But otherwise an amazingly fun vehicle.
