Great car, sharp looking awesome value

I have a 2003 xtype manual AWD. One of the best cars I've owned. Had it 8 years now and no mechanical issues. I've replaced the front suspension parts as needed. Mine has 143000 miles on it and will still do 130 mph. Fun car to drive, and very reliable. The parts are fairly inexpensive if you don't buy from Jag. And any repairs or maintenance is pretty simple like any other car. It has gone through tires faster than most cars but still worth owning. The one problem I have with the car is, insurance tends to be really high for some reason. The car does depreciate fairly rapidly. I will have this car many more years.

saved my life

Was just rear-ended in my 2003 X Type 3.0, by a half-ton traveling at highway speeds. I was stopped at a light. I lost pretty much everything in the trunk but walked away from the accident. The car had been in perfect condition inside and out and had given me months of uninterrupted service. The car was a perfect match in color for my XK8 - both black with tan leather. It was quickly becoming my favorite car ever, even though it had a way to go to match the Jaguar convertible it matched. The car was universally liked by every one who saw it.

6 cyl, AWD, manual transmission -1/2 price of BMW

Bought this for my teen son as a first car. Was insistent he learns to drive stick and living in NE wanted solid safe car for not much money. I put winter tyres on it and its unbeatable in the snow. He has a safe car that's reliable, Ford money to maintain and its a cool black Jag for him. Sorted!

Affordable luxury, with reliability, style and AWD

Always garaged, this Jag has been pampered. My wife (second owner) drives it 2K miles a year and loves every mile of it. All-wheel drive gives her the confidence to drive in snow and ice and the heated front seats keep her warm. Powerful and maneuverable, the X-type wraps classic Jag styling in a smaller package.

Worst Car I've Ever Owned

Be prepared to shell out $$$$. I bought t he car with about 30,000 miles. It now has 160,000 but is in need of it's 4th transmission! The trannys on these cars are supposed to be "sealed for life". But that life is about 40,000 miles. I have taken great car of this car - regular oil changes, gear box fluid changes, tune ups, etc. Luckily, I do most of the work. Other problems include loss of radiator fluid, awful suspension rattles and a hard bumpy ride. These X Types were made by Ford. I kept driving it and fixing it because I was determined to get as much out of it as I could. But I will NOT replace another tranny. Good money after bad. Stay away. You've been warned...

Jaguar X type, best kept secret

Some people review this badly. Glad I didn't base my purchase on that. There are problems eventually with every car sooner or later and also depends on driving habits and maintenance. These cars are really under rated. Not a muscle car but a nice driving and handling car. Good on gas, all wheel drive, trunk is a good size and rear seats fold down for more space. Don't forget the timeless good looks. For the price they truly are a great value.

Best performance car I've ever owned.

I used to be a GM guy and owned a couple Buicks. Then, after hitting a deer and totaling my slats Buick I found a Jaguar X-type and as nice as my LeSabre handled, my jaguars (I now own 3 of these cars) handle 20 times better! It feels like you sit right in the curve and it handles like a dream on the curvy PA roads I travel. Also AWD and gets around great in winter. The absolute only downsides are low ground clearance and if you're tall it's tough getting in or out.
