Great car with manual transmission

I have owned the 2.5 x-type manual transmission since new. 97,000 miles no major problems. Interior nice, exterior holing up well over time. Great handing in snow, rain and dry weather. The manual transmission has given me no trouble and make the car more fun to drive than the auto transmission. For the money you can not beat the car, used value looks good to buy, trade in not so good.

Nice, stylish car

Bought a 2004 model with 25,000 miles and have owned for 1.5 months. Very attractive car with stylish interior. Had to read the manual to operate some features, but not too difficult. Car feels safe and substantial on the road. Previousley owned a Merc C280. The Jag is not as quick and responsive as the C280, but holds the road much better in wind and rain. The C280 is a struggle to hold on the road in high winds. I hardly notice this in the Jag. The plastic in the Jag is a bit cheaper in quality than it should be, but the car has a lot of "extras" that come standard, including leather and AWD. All in all, I enjoy driving the Jag and feel it was a better value than a used Mercedes.

Unreliable car, wouldn't buy again

Have a 2004 x-type with 30,200 miles on it. Has been in the shop for a month now with a gear box fault. The interior is cheaply made for the price and have replaced the front vents and vanity mirrors. Have had exterior trim fall off while driving. The transmission does not shift smoothly and thelow profile tires are noisy. Should have listened to consumer reports who also does not recommend this car. I do like the look of the car, the comfort of the seats, the acceleration, and the handling. However, I would not buy this car again due to all the issues I have had so far. Its good to get the 100,000 miles warranty like I did if you buy this car.

Driver

I love this car! This car handles extremely well. It just hugs the road as you drive. Very comfortable! No problems in over a year of owning this vehicle.
