Oil adapter problems

My daughter had an oil leak after an oil change. Internet search shows problems with the oil adapter on V6 Grand Cherokees and other models with V6s. Adapter is made of plastic and develops cracks. Dealer that replaced adapter charged full retail price for replacement, approximately $80 mark-up. Dealer would not adjust price down, nor would Chrysler Jeep make any concession. Buyer beware. Making this part out of plastic is a design/engineering problem.

Reliable

Felt safe driving my family around in. One of the few reasonably priced suvs with rear vents for the kids. Great for short and long trips.

Nice looking lemon.

I took this car back five or six times about the transmission to 3 different dealers. Told nothing wrong, well guess what, they now admit somethings wrong. They had a recall recently and adjusted the trans., now it runs better. I wish I had stuck with Toyota

Transmission shifts erratically.

This Cherokee has very few options yet has great power, gets pretty good gas mileage, and is pretty comfortable for an inexpensive car. But this model is notorious for having transmission problems. The first time I brought it in with a transmission problem, they fixed it with a computer update. A year or so later when it was shifting erratically, they claim they couldn't duplicate the problem. But I felt the erratic shift as I was driving out of their parking lot. I think they know these cars have a transmission problem, but won't admit it because the fix would be very expensive.

Worst mistake

I purchased my 2015 Cherokee with only 24000km which was very low. With in a month I noticed my transmission acting very odd. It would often miss shifts or sometimes not be in gear at all. Leaving me stuck in traffic until it sorted itself out then go from zero to 100 and almost run into something. Let's proceed to the useless entertainment system. Can you control volume, sometimes, sync your phone good luck, use an aux cord no way. Interior build quality is poor at best. Exterior paint might as well be watercolours. I have so many scratches. Even after hours if cut polish and layers of wax I cannot portect it. To anyone considering one of these vehicles please don't. Learn from my mistake and stay away...

Defective Transmission

When the Jeep is running well, I like the way it handles. However, I did not expect to deal with a defective transmission which shows itself with jerky/clunky shifting in low gears. Also, radiator came apart and needed to be replaced. Battery needed to be replaced, even though the battery indicator gauge showed it was good. It's been towed twice b/c of the problems, at my expense.
