Numerous trips to the dealership

You cannot beat a JEEP when it comes to 4 wheeling. Gas mileage is awful even with the 6 cylinder. I have made numerous trips to the dealership for everything from power windows not working and weatherstripping coming off. On the highway you get a whistling noise once you go above 60mph. I owned a Jeep Liberty prior to leasing the Commander. Do I regret it!

Wind Noise

Vehicle has terrible wind noise loud whistle or buzzing between 60 and 70 mph. Talked with other owners having the same problem been in the shop for repair but still making noise. Outside of that this is a great vehicle

Great SUV

We recently sold our Nissan Maxima, which I loved, and were in the market to buy a new SUV. Since I had so much good luck/satisfaction with our Maxima, we decided to look at the Armadas. After doing some research, the Armada is a great car, but the price was not what we were looking for. We shopped around and found the Commander and absolutely love it! This is our 1st JEEP to own and our 2nd SUV (1st was an Expedition - HORRIBLE!) and we love the space it has for all 3 kids (3 months to 4 years old). It rides amazing and has all the features that we were looking for - for a lot less than the Armada. If you are looking for a great and dependable SUV, go with the Commander, not a mini van!!

Beats the rest

We tried all sorts of suvs from the big ones to the small ones. Commander is just a great vehicle to drive. Power is there when needed [hemi] and the ride is smooth and steady. handles like its on a rail. Build and fit is as good as any domestic vehicle I have seen in a long time. jeep has heard the message and their answer is an outstanding vehicle.

Brand New Commander

Last month I leased an '06 Commander. It is my first lease & my first brand new car. The comfort level is amazing. Driver's seat is great, easily adjusted, comfortable on long trips. The passenger seat is also quite comfortable. However, the front/dash area has a few too many empty spaces. They seem to be there to hold random things, but to me, are useless. About 2 weeks after I got the car, I noticed that the sun-roof was very loud, it always sounded as if the "vent" was open. (One of the reasons I traded in my 1999 Cherokee was that it was too loud, in terms of wind noises.) I had to return the Commander to the dealership to get the whole piece replaced. I have yet to see the results, so we'll see how reliable that piece of it is. Also, on my first long trip in the car (about 9 hours roundtrip), I was on the highway, going about 80mph (above the speed limit, I know), when the accelerator suddenly stopped working. It felt similar to a fuel pump problem. The car did not stop or turn off, it just seemed like the accelerator became disconnected from the engine. I was able to pull over safely. I turned the car off, re-started it, & it started right up w/out any problems. The dealership was not able to duplicate the problem. No warning/indicator lights came on, & it seemed like it had the potential to be a bit dangerous. Nothing like that has happened since, & the dealership explained it as it may have been a "hiccup" in the fuel line, just as the car got it's first few hundred miles on it. I do like the pick-up, plenty of "pep" getting onto the highway, etc, & I only got the 6cyl. The back hatch is very heavy, however I do like the function of the back (hatch) window opening remotely. I also like the alert/indicator when the car is in reverse. I have always had big cars, but the Commander is certainly the largest, so the extra back-up warnings are useful. The noise overrides the radio, which is a great feature for people who drive w/the music very loud. I had to get used to the headlights/lamp switches (of all things!), but I have had many compliments on the car, and continue to be a loyal Jeep customer.

An all around great value SUV

The 5.7L Hemi is well worth the extra cost. This is the first vehicle I have purchased where I actually had to read the manuals to become acquainted with all the features.

REAL SUV

EXCELLENT REAL SUV. LOTS OF OPTIONS WITH THE COMMANDER. REAR SEATS FOR KIDS OR SHORT TRIPS ONLY. MOST LOVED THE SECOND ROW THEATER SEATING. OLD SCHOOL LOOKS WITH NEW SCHOOL RIDE. MOST LIKED THE OLD JEEP LOOK. NICE QUALITY INSIDE.

2006 Jeep Commander

We went from a minivan to a Commander w/command sky lights which is a nice feature. The biggest compaliant is the Commanders 3rd row seats is only big enough for very small kids, leg room in the 2nd row is limited. Gas mileage is what you expect from a suv we get about 16. Overall we are happy but if your looking for a vehicle to carry more than 5 or have more than one car seat go with a minivan.
